Acoustic Research M4 Holographic Speakers

Ive had these for almost 20 years and have been yet some of the best sounding speakers i have ever owned. These are used and in fair condition. They look worse than they sound.

The good:
- These are incredibly rare and hard to find.
- Cabinets are still strong with no panel talk (means the boxes are well designed and you dont get bad resonance from the wood)
- Both built in 6" subs (not visible in the pictures) were replaced with proper OEM equipment about 5 years ago and work perfectly. They put out impressive bass for their size.
- They still sound great and have mixed emotions about saying good-bye.
- the rubber surrounds for the mid 6" drivers are still fine.
- Support bi-amping

The bad:
- the vinyl wrap on the edges show signs of wear
- the cloth covers are a little frayed. Can easily be repaired
- one tweeter doesnt work. Can be replaced with OEM (harder to find) or aftermarket (but check for proper fitment). Theres a company in MA that can ship replacements
- The dust caps on both mid-drivers need to be replaced thanks to my cat. It doesn't affect the sound but its good to replace them to prevent dust from getting between the coil basket and magnets.

20 bucks is basically free for these. if they were in sd i'd take them. nice piece of entry level audiophile history.

This is the company I ordered the OEM replacement subs from:
http://www.abtechservices.com/arspeakers.html

You can get a new tweeter for $38. If you arent comfortable with replacing the dust caps, you can get new mid drivers for about $52 each. They sell the actual AR drivers and not the cheap components.
