So I thought we used to have a tech forum for non-xj questions, but this question will hopefully involve my XJ someday...
A friend is selling a 1984 Mercedes 300TD with around 280,000 mi on the clock. Decent condition, test drove it today and the tranny shifts hard & there's a little bit of blow-by. Its been DD'd and it was low on tranny fluid so that issue might be really simple. Started first crank.
Is the vehicle worth $400? I'm thinking pretty hard about buying it.
I've seen this motor dropped into an MJ on some thread here, eventually I'd love to swap it into my XJ... oil pan to diff seems to be the main concern.
