Non-club Truckhaven run 12/17 and 12/18!

Hey Curt, when I think of a stock rig, I think of a connected swaybar. Truckhaven really doesn't play well to a connected swaybar in many, if not all, of those twisties.

When I was talking about "newb" drivers, I was speaking of wives, gf's and drivers in newly lifted rigs.

I would say, at a minimum, a lift would be required. However, if 01 wants to come out he is more than welcome to do so.
do i gotta have the quick disconnects to disconnect the swaybar, or will it be fine if i just disconnect it the way it is? too bad i don't have the cash or time right now to lift it, or else i would

I ran everything truckhaven has to offer in my 1962 ford f100 4x4.

Granted, it has more ground clearance than my xj with 6.5" of lift, but less articulation than a stock xj.

You would probably be ok on the 'trail' type runs. When they get to playing in the notches, you'd spend a lot of time parked on the side and watching, but it would be a minimal inconviance to the group.

That said, i'm familair with most of the rigs going and most have 4.5+" of lift and 33-35's. If you wanna hold off on going, I'll be setting up another truckhaven run in 6-8 weeks (I have to miss this one and i LOVE truckhaven) that you will be welcome to come out with. Grant will probably come then as well, as we really enjoy wheeling togethre.

Rollin on 37's?
haha i wish. i 'm staying small only because this thing will spend the majority of its life on the road, seeing as i work and go to school most of the time. i'll probably go with 31x10.50x15 BFG AT T/a. just can't decide on keeping the stock ecco's or go with 15x8s

Get the 15x8's with a proper offset, because your going to go bigger later. It's easy to say your going to stay small, until the first time your cutting around a rock, lean out the window and see one tire hanging two and a half feet in the air. Until you've been there and -then- said your staying small, you don't mean it. :)

true. I was looking at the american racing AR767 and i think it's a 4.5 backspacing, is that enough?

4.5 is pretty much perfect.

http://shell.exo.com/~cal/4x4/xj/stuffed/

35's with 4.5" backspacing. They stuff pretty well. Those pictures were just a test to see where I need to keep trimming, how much bumpstop I need, etc. Those wheels are AR Outlaw II's, 16x8, 4.5" backspacing. They are like $91 each, cheaper than the steel ones..

i'm gonna stick with 15's. the steel ones are about 60 a piece, and tires will be cheaper for the 15". BTW how much lift do you have on that to fit the 35's

I wasnt suggesting that you go 16" so much as giving full information on what I was providing pictures of.

I have 6.5" of lift, but with some trimming you could easily do it on 4.5 or 5.5. In those pictures, I'm still using the same shocks, steering, track bar, bumpstops, etc.. that I was using at 4.5" with 32's and as you can see, they tires stuff fine.

You know, that happens. It's Grant's thread, so I dont feel bad taking it off topic. :)

! Go pack some boxes. :) Up for a beer tomorrow night, or are you busy?

Maybe you missed the "six big items on my list" posted on BBR earlier today...

Busy. Heading to Clean RC's shortly to fix this swaybar endlink issue (a touch of the torch) and then back to perm wire my electric fans (temp wired so that I could see if this grand scheme would work... it does so far) and wire up the locker solenoids.

Not to mention remounting my rock rails, securing a tranny cooler and jamming all of the skids back on my heep.

What I don't do tonight goes into Friday as tomorrow I have a date, and she ain't you. ;)

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you... Did you ever get your AW4 rebuilt? How much did that run you? Did you beef it up at all? Is there really anything that you can do to beef it up?

Which one of us? I had mine chemical flushed, it seems to have fixed most of my slippage.

I've not done it yet. Mogi Transmissions, out of Riverside, specializes in race stuff and they quoted about two grand (give or take, depending upon parts needed and dropping the trans) to beef it up.

Yes, they can beef it, or in the very least make it shift much better, with new valving. It is their parts and you can only buy it through them.

I'm going to wait until my SSSP (Super Secret Stroker Project) is done and have an AW4 bench built and just install them at the same time.

Nice...
I should start a stroker project since I have a spare I6 4.0 with only 32K miles sitting in my garage.

If you have a spare 4.0 with only 32k on it, wait until your engine is dead and just install that. No reason to tear something apart that is in perfect shape.. you probably dont need the power of a stroker, in a lot of cases it will just cause more breakage.
