noise from brakes?

i have just started hearing this high pitched wa-wa-wa noise coming from somewhere... (good description, huh:))

when i brake and come to a stop, everything is ok. the only thing is that i have to push pretty hard sometimes to stop, but it seems ok with no noise when i stop. after i accelerate normally, i hear a wa-wa-wa noise that is kind of higher pitched, but not a squeal. when i reach 15 or so mph, the noise is gone.

i was wondering if this could be the brakes not letting go or something else.
could there be something that needs to be lubed?

It is more noticable when it is cold, or when it is wet. any ideas?

Have you checked to see how much pad is left?

Pull a tire and do a visual inspection to see how things look.

Also make sure your drums are centered. One of those nice tire shops didn't get them on all the way before tightening the lugs on mine. They were off enough that the drum would push the pads around. Silly me just ingored it until there was a hole in the backing plate. :D

if one of the drums isnt centered, would that be giving me a little bit of a wobble (45mph), when my tires were just balanced?

Still sounds like balancing to me, but the drum could cause it. Like the wheel didn't get seated flat.
