Wheeled my XJ for the first time this weekend. WooHoo !! A lot more different than my JK. Took my stone stock '99 on a three day run on the Mojave Road. The first thing that I noticed was that I could hear the squeeking of the rubber seals in the door frame. I heard that the XJ had body flex, but when I heard the seal squeeking I understood. Never wheeled an auto but it sure was nice not having to shift. Not having the ground clearance made for some intersting driving on some of the high crown roads but all in all it was a champ. And I got nearly 23 mpg on the drive up and back. I might get 17 with the JK. Though it was nearly 100 during the day the temp was never and issue. Did get a flat though. Picked up a nail while visiting the old school bus, so I stuck a plug in the hole and that seems to have fixed it.
Can't wait to wheel it some more this summer, but plan on installing all my mods first.

nice seeing ya on boards crossing this weekend...

door is good. i hope the tree is alright. saw a group of big cjs playing on those roots last time so i played on them too. this time the tree got the best of me. so its

i just need to bang it out. yah the roots are the fun part of the trail!

your buddys 4runner lost a bearing huh? saw them at taco bell in arnold, said it had to be towed. thats always a bummer. luckily the only carnage we had was losing the brakes on the willys everytime we go through the water(bad axle seals and shitty brakes and water are no fun) and we also lost the clutch to the willys for a little while, the line to the slave cylinder cut cut and lost all the fluid. fixed it in the parking lot of the napa auto in arnold and bled it and drove it back in on saturday.

what? ... no invite Jon?

dont take it personally sean! it was just a family camping trip.
my pops, brothers, and uncles and i planned like 2 months ago
there really isnt anything challenging
but it is fun to run back and forth a few times. i think we ended up going in and out like 3-4 times and just playing on whatever we could find
i chose it cuz we needed some place to take my dads stock 4runner into but still do a little wheeling.
also took my uncles xj on 3" and bald 31s and the 59 willys( no brakes and no powersteering , and only goes fast, never slow, needs tons of work)

i didnt bring a camera but i think my pops did. ill ask him for pics
