Thanks Hans for the welcome!

This is my second XJ buildup, my 88 Chief is my daily driver and has taken a beating over the past couple of years in the bush. I thought it was time to build something more hardcore... so I found a great deal on this 90 Sporty...

Hahah Awesome!

I like the 2 doors more and more every time I see them. There must be more leg room eh?

Hey PDX, I almost started with a 2 door, but had the need for 4 doors as a daily driver!

I have wanted a 2 door for some time now.. to do the chop-top XJ pickup! Plans are in the works to add to the subframe inside and out and a few more mods prior to taking the can opener to the roof right at the rear window edge. Internal roll cage along with floor channels to tie everything together.

Prior to that concept, I am building the new diffs, going to add some under armor, sliders and custom bumpers front n rear.

have fun... Get your XJ dirty

Very nice Ride!! We're excited to get you down this way or perhaps a bunch of us can get YOUR way to flex 'em up!!!

Which lift is that? I didn't see it in your post (?).

Welcome!

Sharp rig, welcome to the crew!

Welcome! I have been eyeing that lift for awhile now. Good to hear some feedback on it. Now I just have to come up with the cash. Hope to see you on the trail soon.

Thanks Everyone for the Welcomes and the great comments!

When planning this buildup, my first goal was to get high enough for the 35" tires for the pumpkin clearance. I started at JeepSpeed.com only to find that there are only 3 lift kits that qualify for the JeepSpeed Baja race series and the Full Traction lift is one of them. Prior lifts, I have noticed how well they work at low crawling speed, how soft you can make them flex with or without adjustable shocks, etc. Right now with this lift, I run my RS9000's at 0 and the lift works fantastick. On a run a week ago we were on this logging road attaining speeds of 40 & 50mph and each time my XJ sucked up the potholes you could feel whole suspension from top to bottom, kinda like riding on a highspeed wave! The lift kit rocks and the more I drive it the more I love it... as expected as a new lift, it's still a little stiff to stuff the tires while crawling in the tank traps etc, but for a 6" lift, it flexes the rear tires right up inside those bushwacker cutouts, with some rubbing of course but nothing that will damage the flares.

When I went to the retailer to pickup the kit, first I was amazed at the weight of all the boxes and of course the dbl military wrapped leaf springs, upon opening the boxes just like a kid on Xmas morning, I was so impressed by the quality of the workmanship of all the parts, you can just see and imagine the R&D that has went into the development and production of the kit. I have lifted many rigs over the years, but I have never spent the money to buy the Caddilac of lifts and I am so happy that I did for this project.

Presently I'm working on some custom crossmembers for the front and rear of the subframe, in behind and below the bumpers, I will be showing those idea's a few weeks from now on my website. Next priority is to get those diffs Cocked & Locked front n back so I need no Jack...

Tks again & happy wheel'n ALL

XJ Sporty... In the Blaze of Glory!

What a way to end the year... November 30th my 90 XJ Sporty had an electrical fire.

See more pix at my website!

Everything from the rockers down is still ok, except one tire, but it will be fine for a fullsize spare. Both rear Bushwackers are toasted, but everything forward of the firewall is fine, now I have that spare motor, tranny & etc. for spare parts.

I am collecting more parts, building new D30 & D44 with Auzzie Lockers, just need to find a new body... Looking for 84-91 XJ 2 door or MJ.

Everyone have a Safe & Happy holidays... remember to always double check the electrical.

WOW that sucks. Hope it works out better for you this time around. :repair:

Holy crap man! Glad you are OK. By the looks of the fire though it looks like you should have been able to salvage alot of parts to include the lift, tires and axles. Did you?
