I have recently purchased a 99 xj. Love it works good with the family since I have two daughter and my wife with me the added comfort helps them to want to play with dad. I am ready to put a long arm kit on it and wanting to know what works for you. I would like to do just 4.5 and shove some 35s under it. Thanks for the info:wierd:

I don't have experience with teraflex but i'm running 35's on about 5.5-6" of total lift. Could go lower with my Rusty's flares too but it's a squeeze. I have the Rusty's long arm kit too and I've loved it. Also TnT long arms seem to be a favorite around here too. Good luck with the build!

Honestly man, coming from a guy with 7.5" and 35's, I would recommend 33's for 4.5" kit. Since it's your DD and your family car, I would recommend the 4.5" rubicon express super flex kit with full leafs and monotube shocks. I have a buddy with a 4.5" kit on his 99 and he has 33's, with no trimming and stock flares, he says he rubs pretty good. The only problem with 35's is you get the point where you have to re-gear, not that would want to with 33's, some people get by with stock gears. Mainly though is that the D30 CAN hold 35's, but it will be more prone to breaking.

For a DD/weekend wheeler, Rubicon express is the best because of the ride, quality parts, yeah you might pay a little more, but it's worth it.

Oh and in reference to long arms, at 4.5" lift, your gonna sacrifice ground clearance with the belly skid and long arms. I would recommend drop brackets, I've seen some guys get really good flex with the drop brackets.

If I could do my rig all over again, it would be either 4.5" or 5.5" lift and 33's. You can have fun without dropping a bunch of money in your rig and not have to worry about breaking anything.

I have a 4 inch right now with 33s I have trimmed a lot off but there is one thing that I have learned there is always room to cut more off. I am planning to do the 4.5 so my wife can still get in I will be boat siding if after EJS and believe that they will fit. This is not the family car so the plan is to just run into rocks with it.

so another .5" lift? In that case, I'd go with the RE 5.5" LA kit. I have their LA's on mine and it like their belly pan/long arm design. Only complaint is I had to notch a groove in the LA mounts where the grease fittings won't break off and I can a grease gun in there.

Search for D30's and 35's. You'll get a lot of "turd polishing" threads. You can truss and stick alloy's in it, but it's still a weak diff. Depending on your wheeling habits, 35's may not be the best bet.

Just a little food for though
