are you talking about the sand dunes? If you desire to go in your xj you need a full cage to run an suv out there-and a couple other minor things if i can remember correctly. Its mostly just dune buggies/atv's and the like out there trying to go as fast as they can from what i understand

i found it on google maps, its a big white patch just north/west of me a couple hours away maybe, my dad has never been there but the only thing i could find was that there were people out there digging for salt crystals and it was near vining oklahoma on the "great salt plains lake" - travel time is 2-1/2 hours - anyone know about cimaron river? can it be run? need paddle tires for either?

hrm... wonder if they do jeepspeed... not that i would have nearly the cash to make a speed rig...

bah double post

i havent heard anyone ever mention that place, i know the sand dune's i was referring to are just south of waynoka, ok called little sahara. I would suggest looking in the opposite direction of the state for some good wheeling with your jeep unless your into go fast sand stuff...

I dont have a strong preference right now as my jeep is still pretty much stock save for a few junkyard swaps and misc homade junk. However, I am interested in places to camp and do some light wheeling within driving distance (no more than 3 hours or so drive time) from my house - and i like to find places, I'm an explorer at heart and would spend an entire day driving just to find a bad455 trail nobody frequented yet - if only i had the time and money to do so

You would think there would be some places out west in OK but I haven't heard of any. Gruber ORV Park is probably the closest well known place.

Don't forget about The Coppermines offroad park just south of Altus, OK. only 400 acres but if your within an hours drive its worth the trip. I wouldn't go if you're more than an hour's drive though.
