New Jeep owner in Central Indiana

Interlake is NOT a legal place to wheel. Redbird is the ONLY state owned property in Indiana that is legal to wheel on. Please do not wheel there as that will jeopardize the opening of this property.

Right, I meant state sponsored places, neglected to mention it wasn't open yet. Hopefully they decide to open it up soon.

Welcome to the site. I'm in Trafalgar, 25 miles due south of dt Indy. I've neglected my XJ for some time and haven't done much with it wheeling wise or general maintenance. I did have my driveshaft rebuilt by ADM on the Westside and they did a great job.

Anyway, welcome fellow Hoosier.

That still doesn't make it legal. AFAIK Redbird and Interlake are the only "public" wheeling areas in Indiana, and I know Noblesville doesn't have a sanctioned OHV park. If it is in a gravel pit, even if it is not in service anymore, is still private land and you need the ok from the landowner to be back there. Just because there were 25+ people there doesn't mean it's allowed.

The pics you posted of being in a creek/river are excellent fodder for the environazis to start shutting down legal OHV areas, and I don't want to see Redbird shut down due to some "soil contamination evidence" found in Indianapolis.

I'm not trying to start a pissing match, but please check into the legality of the area before you or anyone else in the area gets in trouble. If it's allowed, I'll be there to explore/wheel as soon as I can :D

Well it is legal there. The DNR Man was there and said its all good.(I talked to him) Just don't run down the streams and run in the water companys property. You can cross the streams but it has to be the shortest route. BTW, The DNR was way cool. Hope this helps to straighten out your concerns. By no means is this a huge place. Just a fun free place you test or play. After talking to the DNR about the rules we DON'T run down the streams anymore.

Hi Rob.

Carefull.

As you all know...just cause Mr. ranger "says" its OK, don't mean it is.

It is great that you asked, and even better that you got the OK, hope you got his name and badge also....JIC.
