So yesterday I went on the search to buy the Wifey a nice family car. We originally went in search of an A4 and even went to see a Imola Yellow 2001 A4 1.8 Tiptronic w/ sport package. It was a nice car and we I was about to hand them 7000$ for it, except the husband was out of town and the lady didn't know where the title was.

Went back on Craigslist and pulled a search for S4's, just for shites and grins. Now I am the proud co-owner of the wife's "new" 2000 Audi S4 2.7T 6spd. Its black w/ a grey interior and while a bit higher mileage the price was right (8,500$) and it is well maintained. Only real issue is the typical Audi info display failure on the gauge cluster. I averaged 25mpg on the trip from Denver to Omaha today, not bad considering the original window stick (that I have) say its supposed to get 24 mpg Highway. Pics will have to come later though, sorry.

Update:
I left the car at my mom's in Omaha, we then all hopped into the Kia Sedona minivan to make our way further south. We didn't leave Omaha until after noon, now I'm in Cape Girardeau, MO. Continuing on our way to Burmingham, AL tomorrow where we will stay for a bit until heading to Fort Benning to see my little brother graduate from Basic Training. Fun times, lots of driving. Colin has been great though, so thats awesome.

And on a side note, whatever happened with that Datsun you were building?

:roflmao: :shhh:

You should look into a good tranny brace. I want to say that they are around $150. That Getrag 6-speed is like $8,000 plus $2,00 dealer install for a new one. That thing makes a lot of power & torque, and the whole engine/tranny config. is not that stout. If you drive it hard there is a good chance you will shear a motor mount or two and you will be able to feel the tranny slap the floor pan on hard/high-rev shifts.

I already know all of the mods I will be wanting/needing, I've been looking into buying one of these for over 2 years. It does currently have KO3's on it, I'll be doing a KO4 swap once either the turbos or clutch give out. The only real maint. issues they have are the KO3 turbos, and typical VAG electrical gremlins. This is my first Audi but my 7th VAG vehicle. I've already got a VAGCOm on order and now I have a garage so I'll be able to do 99% of all my work. It helps that I'm a diesel mechanic with over 7yrs experience too.

Now I'm in Jasper, AL where I'll be staying for 2 days. Its awesome. :D

that's a fun turbo swap
I'm surprised the K03's haven't cracked or otherwise imploded.

Well we just got done with the graduation and are on our way back to Jasper from Fort Benning. We stayed here the last two nights, needless to say I am not overly impressed with Columbus, GA. I might have been born in GA but I'm sure I never really want to go back.
The ceremony was pretty decent, nice and short. Unfortunately it was outside so it was hot also. I hate humidity.
Well got to drive.

Well after about 14hours of driving we have parked the Kia Sedona in front of my mom's house. I'll be leaving here tomorrow with the girl and baby to go home. It'll be nice not having a van full, and being in an Audi S4 instead of a Kia mini-van.

Cool! Bring me a catfish dinner from Joe Tess'...hush puppies, cole slaw...MMMmmmm

Those are nice cars, I have a 00 A6 2.7t 6spd. I've done a few mods, (chipped, DV's,tbb, tb,wheels) was thinking of stepping up to stage 3 with it but deciced to do a new XJ build. Maybe next year I'll think about doing some ko4's but you have to upgrade fuel system too, not sure if you would have to do that on an s4.

Has the timing belt job been done? If unsure that would be the first thing I did.
Have fun with it, I think I love my Audi more than the Jeep.

Well got back today around 8:00pm. Car drove great and actually managed 28mpg. I think the Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner I ran through it helped. I'll be taking it in tomorrow for a thorough inspection and general service. I also want to get the remote keyless fixed. The previous owner said he'd traced it down to the signal receiver inside the car, so a bit pricey. Still, with only having payed 8500$ for it I can afford a few minor repairs. I also need a new gauge cluster as the info display in it is toasted. Has a serious case of the typical black line syndrome.

I like the A6's alot myself, I was also keeping an eye out for those as they're roomier than the A4's.

You don't actually have to run upgraded fueling with the KO4's, you just won't get any benefit from them without it. The KO4 will bolt right into place as a direct swap with the exception of the turbo inlet pipe. You'll get a bit more lag with it and stock fueling than you do with a KO3, but you won't be hurting anything. Also with your chip you actually wouldn't even notice a difference. That being said, as you have to pull the engine to swap the turbos, you might as well just replace all the fueling while you're at it. The KO4 isn't really the power booster when going stageIII, its just the neccessary foundation.
