:D :D :D

Thanks everyone :D I feel like I'm in highschool getting my first car, I'm really excited about this Jeep.

Mike that laredo looks beautiful!! nice find

Art, that's the good side, the drivers side has a few small dents but it is about 99% rust free and it's a lifelong new england Jeep too

I'd be extremely happy with 99% rust free around here, dents are just beauty marks ;-) I'm jealous, but If I came up with one more project around here I would get kicked out of my house

Nice! What did you pay for it?

I have been looking at them, but most of what I have found around New Hampshire are either rotted out hulks, or are salvagable but the owners want too much for them. The last one I looked at was a 2wd base pioneer with bad paint, missing carpet, torn seat, and some rust. They wanted $2,300. I am beginning to think I should have jumped at the $800 '92 4wd 4.0. It needed a new windshield, some floor replacement, and a new latch for the bed.

I got it off ebay for $725. I didn't notice it until a few hours before auction end so didn't have time to ask any questions or check it out so I just put in a low snipe bid thinking it would probably be outbid and it held

So even though I wasn't really planning on getting a new Jeep, here it is :P

My plans are #1 try to pass MA inspection. It's got a major oil leak, probably rear main seal, but it does run very well despite HIGH miles. Also I suspect bad ball joints, which will automatically fail inspection. So I might swap in a newer D30 complete to take care of the ball joints and upgrade to 297x shafts and get 4.10 gears, even though I wouldn't be able to run it in 4wd until phase 2 which if all goes well would be...

...SOA lift with '96+ ford 8.8 (discs & 4.10) and a matching 5.5" XJ lift up front probably with 4.5" ZJ coils, and some 33" swampers or 34" LTB's :conceited

Sounds good, keep us posted.

I can't afford another vehicle right now, so all of my MJ plans have been contingent upon me getting rid of one of the XJ's. Lately I have been thinking of swapping front ends between the 2wd 96 and 4wd 87. My 87 is a 2 door, which I like better, but the 96 is rust free and has a much stronger motor. If I turn it into a 4wd, I won't need the 87 and can free up space for an MJ. Sick logic, bu that's what I'm looking at. This winter will tell.

Have some fin with that MJ, I'm envious.

Beautiful MJ.

So beautiful that in all honesty I can't condone modifying it. There just aren't that many MJs around, guys. They were only built from 86 until 92, and the 86s mostly had the V-6. I implore you to keep it stock, use it as a DD, and find a beat up XJ to mod into a trail beast.

there's the guilt trip.... i knew you'd get it.... theres a new MJ in my neighborhood i have been eyeballing too...

hey copperhead! nice avatar, you got a bigger pict? :viking:

ya there are two MJ's in my neighborhood, both in really sweet condition, funny both are red. One is garaged kept and being used as a shelf for misc garage stuff  , and the other always sitting underneath a tree (rarely moved). Too bad I'm to broke to afford any more than my XJ... and I am still paying it off.

These are the only ones I have scanned in this far. It ws our 93, the end result of a 70+mph rear-end. We were stopped at a traffic light, he fell asleep and never tried to shop.

On the brighter side, It looks like I will have a new suspension under my 87 soon, No more dragging the rear-end around over rocks. I should now be able to make it to a few local events if any are planned.

Man, every time I see Eagle belly aching Hasta Hasta about how rare MJ's are, don't build them, don't wheel them, blah..blah...blah.... All I want to do is throw an axle under the front of my 2wd beater MJ, lift it 12" and put 44's on it, drive it to CT and play "stomper" through the "Driver and Enabler of the fleets" junkyard of vehicles that will never move/run again.

JK Eagle!!! But it would be a somewhat warped form of poetic justice..... :spin1:

Nice MJ TekkaMaki!! Do what you want to with it. Seriously, MJ's make great trail rigs. None of that rear glass to worry about.

I lowered my 2wd short bed 4.0 auto about 2 inches in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear. Put 16" Cherokee rims on it with 245-50-16's in the rear and 225-55-16's in the front. With poly sway bar bushings in the front, that little truck handles like its on rails!! Very easy to hang the rear end out around corners too!!

I hear what you're saying Eagle and really I don't feel I'm that far in thinking from you, but bone stock is just not an option for me. conversely I don't intend to turn this MJ into a trail beast, but a nice lift and bigger tires, new axles, along with some updates to the interior and some tlc under the hood are in store. and when it comes to wheeling it, if I ever get to that point because it feels like a long way away, I will likely be as careful about not destroying it as I am about my XJ because I feel somewhat like I am the guardian of this particular Jeep. however, this MJ has done a mule's service long enough and after we get back into shape we're gonna out and have some good ol' fashioned wheel spinnin' mud slingin' fun for a change, I think it would really like that party1:
