This is a general question...
I have to replace the neutral safety switch in my 94 Volvo 850 Turbo. Volvo specs a special tool for aligning the switch so that it properly identifies the correct gear. Is this common on all autos? I have seen where people have bipassed this tool by measuring the resistance of the switch or checking if the back up lights come on while the tranny is in reverse. I really don't want to connect the battery during the process to check this. Are there any other tricks to making sure this thing is set right?
