Need to replace my T-case

My 242 seems to have finally crapped out on me. I'm getting a weird grinding noise with a metallic ticking noise. Not sure what it is but the grinding and ticking is getting much worse. Checked my linkage and everything was good. Not sure yet if I will rebuild my current t-case or switch over to the 231. I figured I would see what's out there for sale before I made my decision, but I'm leaning towards the 231. I would prefer it to have a sye and a fat chain HD set up would be great but a stocker would work. I might also be interested in another 242 if it's in great shape. Let me know what you have and how much you want.

I've been thinking about your t-case for a while but no matter how I look at it, the cost with linkage kit, bezel, longer rear ds, and a few other small needed parts is just beyond what I can afford. I would love to go that route but it's not in the cards right now and I need my rig trail ready asap.

My grinding and ticking comes when I give it gas in 4 wheel drive especialy when turning. When I'm going straight it isn't too bad. I was thinking the same thing about the junkyard approach. I looked at picking up a jy 231 and building it up but when I totalled up the jy 231, SYE, fat chain, and 6 planetary gear set up my cost started getting out of my range. I really need to either find a 231 already built (at least a SYE installed) or just rebuild my current 242. It sucks being poor.

Getting ready to move forward on this repair and want to make sure I know all my options. Is there nobody out there with a 242 or 231 in great shape with peferably a SYE installed? At this point, if no one comes forward with a t-case I will probably rebuild the 242 I have. I will give it one more day before I order the rebuild kit and new chain.

I've got a 242 that I bought from mateoruiziii and ended up not using. I've posted it before but did not sell it. I'll find the old post and repost it mometarily. I'll take any reasonable offer.
