Need some help

So, while I was in Iraq I helped put my wife through her MBA. She still has student loans from her undergrad and a little from the MBA.

Anyway, she's been busting her ass looking for a job here in the Springs but to no avail. With the financial sector being what it is, they are really tightening up on their hiring. So, does anybody know of anyone willing to hire a recent MBA graduate in the Springs? Her student loans are coming due at the end of July and with gas prices being what they are, this could really hurt us. I would really appreciate the help. She's checked careerbuilder, federal jobs, state jobs, monster, the paper, beat the pavement, yahoo jobs, the whole nine. Nothing.

Did she try USA Jobs? I work for the Feds here in Florence and they are always hiring! They only use USA Jobs, check'em out! I will keep my ears open around here for ya!

Hey thanks, yeah, I meant USA jobs when I said federal jobs. The problem with them is their turn around on notifications is painfully slow. But she's been shot gun blasting all the sites with her resume. She essentially spends 8 hours a day job hunting and it's really discouraging her and making me worry about July.

i know its lame, but how about restraunts? at least its a paycheck while she foinds something better. are any of the afes hiring on carson?

At this point it's coming down to it. But the AAFES on post goes through the federal jobs website as well. I'm just praying she finds something.

Has she tried craigslist? I'm not sure how much will be out there, but it might be worth a shot. Has she considered hitting up the temp agencies? I got my start through one. They can be a great way to get a foot in the door somewhere.

One other thing I just thought of - when it comes to student loans many of the lenders are flexible. If things don't look up soon it would be worth contacting them to see if they'll defer payments for a bit longer. It's more attractive for them to defer than to risk having a loan go into default. It doesn't hurt to make the call and see. Worst case you waste a few minutes on the phone... best case you buy some more time.

Yeah, she's looked into the deferment, but in order to do it, you have to be on unemployment. She's going to call tomorrow to confirm if that is true or not.

Has she gone down to the county "workforce" office? I don't remember exactly what it is called, but when I got laid off a few years ago I remember having to register there as a requirement for unemployment. Took a job soon after so I don't know how helpful they are, but it sounded like not many people actually take advantage of the resources they have available. I do remember filling out some fairly detailed questionaires, and that they try to help find people jobs that fit their skills. Might be worth a shot. Good Luck.
