Looking to weld trusses and install 488s and Lockers on my 01 XJ . found a shop to do the work but its a little outside my budget. I have the trusses so ill need to buy the gears & lockers plus any other needed parts . I am looking for a competent welder and someone t
o set up and install the gears. I am willing to supply the grunt labor and can use my place to do all the work if needed. anyone here in the Sacramento area that needs extra cash and has the skills and time to help me with this project please give me a call or email . I a very short window to work with . I will be in town from april 1st to the 9th . I would like to be testing out the ri,g on my last weekend before I leave again. 916-442-4148 or [email protected] Thanks Rich

I know there is a place in Sac that does gear installs for 100$/axle. At least they used to. Kevin know what/where the shop is.
blondejon welds, sure other do too.

For the welding I have a rear that is just a simple plate across top of the housing with raised bumbstops, also need have weld on relocted lower shock mounts . The truss up front boxes the housing and has C gussets for each end , need to weld heavy duty lca mounts also Its pretty involved welding for this truss.

Yep, the shop is Golden State Motorsports in Sac. Axles have to be out of the rig (and disassembled?) for the $100 a pop deal. Good price, but for now I'll keep my other comments to myself.

do tell, i've considered going to them for things and would like to hear what experiences others have had...?

I just took my d30 to West Coast Diffs in Rancho. It cost $200 with it out of the rig but they do great work and had it done the next morning, I dropped it off late afternoon.

They will have my business in the future.

I'm not sure about their requirements as far as whether the axle ca be in or has to be out of the vehicle, but I'm pretty sure WFO could do it and I've had nothing but positive expriences with them. Their prices have been decent and the people are really good people that are easy to work with. But they are up in Auburn. So it may be a bit out of the way.

Well I found a guy to do the welding and I got West Coast diferntial Installing the Gears and Lockers. All my parts are here , only waiting on the Chrysler 8.25 488 ring and pinion. CANT WAIT TO G!!ET IT ALL TOGETHER!!!

Its all done and I am a very happy camper. I had Josh at No Limit Muffler and Fab weld my trusses and HD LCA mounts as well as the Zone rear shock mounts. . He did am amazing job and his prices were more than fair. The trusses look and perform outstanding. West Coast Diff did a super job with the lockers and gears. Still breakingbar in the gears but was able to do some light wheeling at Rattel Snake Bar in Folsom and I was blown away at the effectiveness of the package. Crawed up some stuff that before required a perfect line and lots of wheel spin tp navigate. EASY AS APPLE PIE! Cant wait to run Fordyce with gears and lockers now. Open diffs and stock gears made that trail a mother. got some nice pics of the build but not sure how to post them up . Any tips? Rich

Im liking the huge bend in the tie rod. I wish I took the time to do that to mine!

YEAH I bent three stock tie rods before I decided to switch to The Rock Krawler Sterring Kit . I really like it. Its freaking bullet proof . Read a couple threads bashing the kit but I have nothing but high marks .
Not sure what make the steering stabilizer came from , found it on a junk yard Rough Country lift years ago. Originally the braket bolted to the drivers side of diff cover and hung lower. I just flipped and reversed the bracket to make it work for my Junk. I got $1.35 U bolts from Home Depot to bolt it to the tie rod. WORKS GREAT and the Massive tie rod serves to protect the Shock from Rock Carnage. I love making old crap work on new stuff. btw how you get the pics to show up i got more and I could make it work from my Phone?
