Starting to save up some money for a gear install for my 8.25. I currently have 3:55s in the back and due to a recent axle swap I have 4:10s in the front.

So I need to put 4:10s in the chrysler but my delema is I don't really know any good places that I could take the heep to. I just moved to Windsor Ct, so Im looking for some shops in the area to start pricing out a gear install.

there is a couple of high performance shops in Simsbury which is a town over which should be able to or call valley truck and off road they might be able to help

Sweet thanks guys. I'll look into Wzoreks and Valley trucks and see what kind money I'm going to need for this.

Dan McPherson did mine. It cost $287 for the gears and 200$ labor.

So, I'm in a position now to buy up some gears, I have roughly 500$ maybe a little more if needs be. I've decided that I want to do both the front rear to 4:56 since I dont want to regear again.

Ideally I would like to have someone do it, but I know that for the money I have I'll have to do it on my own. I still need to call Wzoreks for pricing.... working graves really screws things up.....

Ive read up on installing gears, and I get the idea of it, but this will be a learning experience. Being an Aircraft mech, i would hope that I could handle this..... ha

We all know I am not the guy to give advice about shops

The shop i work for 413 Auto Repair can perform your re-gear we have the experience and know how and are just over the border in Massachusetts about 10 minutes from Enfield

you can call us at 413-455-5602 for an estimate

I would love to put in an 8.8 or a 44, but I know some times to find one and easily drop and swap can take some time. Plus, eventually I'll have to regear anyway, so might as well get it to that point.

I called around, and it seems I'm not even in the ball park to have someone install this for me. Several hundred dollars in labor per axle and 700+ on parts puts me way over budget for this project. Ha.

I've set my sights on a 4:56 master install kit for both ends for a good price, so I think I'm going to pull the trigger. So, in the coming weeks, I'll be diving into that. I'll probably have to post up for some help if I get stuck, but I'm pretty confident I can do it.

THIS!!!!! Find an 8.8 out of an uhhh exploder maybe that has 4:11s AND a posi. Be like $150 for the axle and $90 for the perch kit from ruff stuff.

x3 on the 8.8, re-gearing both axles seems more time consuming and expensive to just go from 4.10 to 4.56. What size tire are you planning on running?

edit: nvm forgot about your build thread. 32's arent too bad with 4.10s imo

I thought about regearing just the back to match the front, but if I have to gear once might as well do both.

eventually I will have 33's after these tires.

you are looking at 250 per axle in parts, and 250 (min) per axle for labor. that labor cost is the cheap/one guy does this stuff on the side deal. for a real shop, you are looking at closer to 500 per axle. that being said, there are placed to get it done for 250-3 per axle if you bring them the axles and parts, but i'm too far to be of any help.

Its an auto. It has currently 3:55s in the back, and 4:10s in the front. I mean I could just do the back to match, but it seemed like 4:10s wouldn't be as good as 4:56.

Yeah that's what I've been getting from most places, that's why I would do it on my own. Haha I want to get the 4x4 back before the snow starts to fall.

So like everyone's telling you.... Buy an 8.8 WITH the gears in it and a posi.
Ruff stuff perch and ubolt kit. Done. Cost you $300-500 depending on 8.8 condition.
