Need Brake Recommendations

Hi All,

The front brakes on my 99 are shot, when I bought new tires the shop said there's 1/32 left on the pads, and the rotors would be out of spec if they were to turn them. 88k miles on the original brakes - not bad.

Need a little help on what to buy for parts. I'd like to do OEM spec or better (but hopefully for cheaper). What do you recommend for rotors and pads?

Autozone's website has a choice between two rotor options: 3 1/16 overall height and 3 3/16 overall height. I don't know what this means - the Jeep dealership didn't really either, but said that rotors are of two possible styles, either Composite ($105) or Full Cast ($115) and there's no way of knowing what you have until you pull 'em off.

So any help would be great on what I should be buying...I'm hoping to do this today. Also - what type of pads do I want?

Thanks,
Brian

I've been pleased with Raybestos PG Plus pads and shoes. For rotors, I avoid the ones made in China. They're usually the ones selling for $20-$30. Lately I've gone with NAPA rotors. They offer good ones or cheap ones. For my '87, the rotors ran $40-$50 each.

I heard from very reliable source that the Hawk pads make a noticable improvement on the XJ.
