Need 97+ E-brake button or assembly

I am looking to fix my brothers 97 XJ e-brake handle. Everything works but the release button is broken. The dealer only sells the complete assemble at a rediculous price. Anyone??

Yup, Im finding this to be somewhat common. I now need to find out if the earlier style will work. Seems to be available.
