Just a quick note to say that NACFest '03 is history, and, it seemed to go fairly well.

I'll try to put together a summary in the next few days - with better details. That will be posted on the NAC Board.

Unfortunately, the 3.55" of record rain that hit the region on Saturday (especially Saturday night) and Sunday, led to a decision by the group to bail out (literally) on Sunday morning, so we cut the event short. Of course, the trucks didn't mind the rain and actually did great on Saturday (heck, we even had the "Stocker" group horning in on some Moderate trails!!! ), but we kept losing people (not even sure if some weren't washed downstream of the campground! ). The soggy consensus was that two good days were enough. Friday was a spectacular day in the sunshine at Paragon.

Of course, we still had two intrepid NAXJA'ers that showed up for the first time on Sunday morning in the rain - MattBlackXJ and John-Boy - only to find the rest of the XJ's scattering to all points of the compass to wade their way back home. Sorry guys. :(

Anyway, a quick thank you to the 30 drivers and their passengers who showed up - all things considered, it was a pretty good couple of days in the Appalachians. Nobody got hurt, and the damage totals were manageable as well.

More later . . . .

Heck - he didn't even notice the rain under his trusty "bikini" top.

We made it home about 12pm today and had a blast with you guys... Thanks to Tim and Chris for letting me ride with you guys and Sean and Tim for letting Kevin ride with you guys...we'll see some of you at Tellcio and the rest CU in Moab...

We will be there next year with our own rig...maybe I will have one of my own by then..

Blah, blah, blah..... Beez, ya know you love my yellow poka dot bikini.

Had a great time, glad I picked up that tarp before I left. Wouldn't be East coast wheelin' without a few buckets of rain dumped on ya. Actually, I think I stayed drier than most, especially a certain person that feels the need to break axle shafts in the middle of a stream :D

Those west coast guys would be cryin' and rollin' up their windows, crankin' up the heat, beggin' for mommy..............you get the idea.

Big huge thanks to the NAC and all the sponsors of the event. Can't wait to find out what mystery prize #1 is.

If yo uthink that, then you haven't seen the rain season here in SoCal.... when it rains... I mean it RAINS! I moved here to SoCal cause the travel brochure promised sunny weather and blue skies... what can I say... BASTARDS LIED!

I'll bet One Ton loved the weather....

Oh, I think Sean loved the weather. You can see the glimmer of the beautiful rain coming down. We got over 24 hours of it's pure beauty.

That's a shit eatin' grin on Kevin's face if I ever did see one. Did any of you get shots of us tryin' to test out the cage again just before that?

Heather and Kevin, always glad to take either of you out- the more the merrier.

Sean

Tell You What!

I know how photographers can make things appear heroic, but...Kevin isn't the smallest pea in the pod and Sean's Jeep isn't exactly a low rider...

Who else played follow the leader through that section?

Pix! We need More Pix!!!

I didn't have my camera out until you almost rolled it. So no pics of that from me. I know bryan had his camera, but he tried to grab you so you dind't go over...so I don't beleive he got any pictures either. Maybe Leah snapped some. No one else gave that trail a try. Sean was wheeling with some measly 35's(andy), and 33's(me). I MAY have pics up for next week....dial-up and a trip to florida in about an hour will have to make them wait. Later _nicko_

Sorry, no pics of the near roll here. I was busy playing anchor when you started to go over. I bet those Sami guys would have had a bit more trouble with your rig flopped upside down in the middle of the trail though. You get that hub changed yet?
