even if you had 14" of lift your 35's will rub just as bad. The only thing to keep your tire from rubbing is bumpstops.

trimmed and bumpstopped i comfortably run 37's on 4.5" of lift. my flex is only limited by my shocks.
This is the dumbest sh!t i've read all day. YOUR FLEX IS LIMITED BY YOUR SHOCKS? AWESOME, thats real good for them.

Actually, I would venture to say that MOST peoples flex is limited by their shocks, what would you like to limit it, the brake lines? The front suspension on an XJ (especially a longarm system) will usually flex/droop way more than the length of the shocks that you can install in the available space will allow. And fully extending your shocks letting them limit your axle at slow speed when crawling isn't going to cause major damage. This isn't to say that it's OK in all situations though, I run limit straps with my 7100's as you will damage your shocks when in high speed situations and you leave the ground letting them fully extend HARD catching the weight of the axle repeatedly.

Hahaha, come on man. letting an axle hang on a shock will definatley bust them, maybe not instantly.

I was saying the thing about 14in lift was dumb, then I was smartly saying hanging on your shocks is stupid

So you're running limit straps? Or does suspension bind limit your downward travel before your shocks are fully extended? By the way, this is a DIRECT QUOTE from the paperwork that came with my Bilstein 7100's:

"The shock may be used as a droop limiter on low-speed applications such as trail riding and rock crawling. However, a limit strap is stongly recommended on any high-speed application where suspension oscillations to "full droop" are a common occurrence"

I'm not saying that it won't have an adverse effect over time, but offroading will have that effect on most any part over time.

My coils would fall out before My Shock maxes. Limit straps up front when I do come off the Mall parking lot. connected to LA

Is this your little brother or something, I was speaking on experiance when i was a noob, I had 4.5" on some 2-3" shocks, Using them to limit flex left one that was not able to fully compress or extend. These were Ranchos, not 7100s :wave1:

You have completely missed my point. You made a smart a$$ comment directed at one individual, while 90% of the rigs on here are in that same category. That's all.
