My New Ride

So I sold my Archangel project XJ because of my up coming deployment but I didn't want to leave my family stranded during the winter. I'd be too nervous thinking about them driving around in the Infiniti and getting in a wreck.

Having said that, I picked up this whip for a good price. For now it'll stay moderately stock. Probably just a good winch and slightly meatier tires for the winter and mud days. Not to mention stuff like that can come in useful when a friend gets stuck or slides into a ditch... Something about being a 'hero' that I dig hahahaha

Without further adieu, here she is!

cool, i think i saw your jeep ad on craigslist, almost shot you an email, but the wife would of skinned me alive. to many toys already. you know. Do you by chance work at QT? i saw a pretty chopped up rig in their lot. oh well, later.

by the way. THANKYOU for serving this great country

Yes I work at QT Distibution.

And for the record, personally I think the best way to serve the people of this country is to get all the soldiers back home so we can build a stable country again. A strong stateside force is a good one. These damn politicians are running us dry fighting retarded wars.

i agree brother, i am in raymore. i roll in a 98, dark green limited on 33s, black wheels, roof rack , winch, etc. see ya around
later

Oh cool. I see alot of lifted XJs rollin around here. I'll see ya soon
(FYi for everyone else, Raymore and Belton are like sister cities, side by side)

i looked at that jeep, it was previously wrecked in a rear collision, the unibody was cracked through inbetween the leaf spring on the drivers rear. just a "heads up"

Thanks

I was a bit pissed when I read this from you the other day, I was in denial that maybe it was a different Jeep but it is exactly like you said.

What makes me so mad is that I walked around the whole thing, got under etc and the only 2 problems I saw were a class 1 leak on the oil filter housing and a good size dent in the gas tank.

I asked him if there were any other known problems and he said 'No'... so I am a bit pissed about that.

For the record though, I went ahead and did all the measurements and left side and right side are equal length. Also the height from the rear mount on the leaf springs on either side are equal height. SO... at least I have a good base to perform a permenant fix before it potentially gets out of control.

I'll snap a photo later after work so you guys can see what our friend here is talking about. It's not bad but definetely folded and will most definitely rust if left un attended.
Luckily NONE of the rest of the vehicle has any rust damage... the motor is strong... the tires are all new... perfect interior... aftermarket front and rear bumpers with shackles. So all in all it's a great buy still but this is none-the less upsetting because I could have talked down the price a couple hundred more for the purchase of frame stiffeners.

Speaking of... will frame stiffeners be the likely way to go after this mishap?

i agree its not a hard fix, i was going to get it but i got a 4dr for free from a guy who said the motor was bad. i worked on it for a night, a rear main and starter later its running great. But any ways i wasn't trying to bash on your new ride just wanted to give you the heads up.

i would definateley do the frame stiffeners ( just make your own from some angle pretty easy to do and way cheaper). good luck! also if ya need some help with it i am relativley close to you and could lend a hand.:farmer:

It's all good, I appreciate a heads up.

I really wanted another XJ and needed to start my Project on the Vdub so it's was a big impulse buy and the price was right. I talked him down a smidge but knwoing what I know now, apparently not enough

Nice Dub. I have been drooling all over an 07 GTI at a local dealership. Its a toss up between one of those or a TDI Jetta for my next vehicle.

Well one big positive about the TDI is BIG power cheap.. Larger turbo, larger nozzles and whamo you're flying

Big MPG too! :D my goal if I get one is too mess with the little b16 Honda's with rustholes the size of Texas. That would hurt their pride a little :D
