my front 3 link...in progress

some may frown upon welding to the knuckle, but I like what you are doing there, especially since it's only adding double sheer and not taking the full steering load. I would consider buying a high-nickel rod or two and using an arc welder for the welding though, a small precaution to take, though a good pre and post heated MIG weld will likely be enough.

Thats good advise to listen too, id extend that gusset down some as well

Got it holding it's own weight today with heavy tacks holding it all together

The only thing I don't really like is the track bar. I used an unmodified RE one. I had three options here. Put it where it is now, and keep it within 3" of the length of the drag link, but have it unparallel (green line and what I did). Or I could cut it down another 3-5 inches, and make it parallel with the drag link (red line) but just be so off with lengths.

My last option was to do some weird bends in the drag link to clear the track bar that would be bent around the coil, and making the track bar and drag link perfectly match up...opted against that with time constraits...moving to TX mid next week.

if any one has experience KNOWING that parallel unqual lengths is better than close lengths and unparallel...let me know what you know. It's easy and quick enough to change that. Experience please, no making stuff up. I may just lengthen the track bar to drag link length, but keep it at the same height on the axle.

The drag link is just a temp right now. It will have two slight bends in it as the heim at the pitman arm is just not going to handle any droop, while keeping in mind it's clearance with the tie-rod under compression.

thanks, _nicko_

I don't have experience to prove it, but I do have a little thing called simple geometry. You're better off with parallel and a few inches shorter. Also, it would be easier to mount a heim on the axle end since it's narrower than the bushing.

oh yeah, and let's see the wheel to rod-end clearance... I assume you're made sure it will clear?

pm me your e-mail and I'll send you a bumpsteer spreadsheet to play with.
