This is my first Jeep and I have no clue what I'm doing. But I will say that the people I have come in contact with already make me feel welcome to this new experience. I am looking forward to learning what I can and having a good time doing it.

Woo hoo! Welcome to the obsesion! You should join the convoy in July!

Nice score on the XJ. You are in good company with Ghost and OldBlueXJ. NAXJA people are great and made me feel welcome when I joined too.

See if you can get time off to go to the Crawl. We promise you will enjoy it.

What are your buildup plans?

very nice toy!!! I'm jelous-- how much did she set you back (if you don't mind me asking)

way too clean for an '89!

(you'll never look at Renault and Bendix the same way again)

Dropped 2300 on it. It needs a little of this and little of that but nothing major so far. He was asking 3k for it. Motor is a 98 with 100k on it. It rides a little stiff but I'm trying to get to the bottom of that.

at that height, I'd look into shocks (long enough?), shackle relocation (forward a bit?), and track bar hitting it's bracket/mount on upward travel. Still a nice toy for $2300!!

I've been doing some scouting around and I think I have a few ideas for the future of my Jeep. I have decided I want to go with 8 inch lift with 35x12.50 tires and a few interior changes such as rhino line the floors. I think I may want to change the seats out but not sure about what kind of change I want to make.

drop that down to 6", 8 inches of lift is way overkill for 35s. You'll raise you center of gravity more than needed.

My suggestion would be to learn to drive it as it sits before you go that big and get yourself into a situation you can't get out of. I have almost no lift and 235/75/15s on my rig and i feel its finally time to step up to some bigger meats and finish my lift. I wanted to learn how to drive it like that before stepping up. Nice rig BTW. As for the ride i would suggest checking out some control arm drop brackets and instead of lifting that high id go with about 5.5 and cut your fenders to run 35's.

No you misunderstood totally...that is my future goal for my rig. Dude I wouldn't have the money to do all I want to do it for probably another year at least..lol. But that is the direction I want to look in but HELL no I'm not just jacking it up and buying tires along with all the other stuff that comes along with it.

I understand thats another reason my Jeep is still small! :D I would still suggest only going about 5.5 when you put 35's on it i could imagine it being sketchy when its that tall!

I'll tell ya, it's kinda fun having a smaller rig. I can enjoy mine doing DD duties and even with small tires, XJ's will surprise you where they can go.

You've been hanging around Ghost more than OldBlue I see......haha.

I'd run 5.5" long arms and Q78s and beat the snoot out of it! :)

LOL...no I don't think I can afford a rig like Ghost has. Not to mention I would need an extention ladder to get in and out of it.

X2 It still amazes me where i can go with small tires and no lockers!
