My Daughters XJ build/Getting Started

Now you need to build some thor gaurds. I built mine and there an must for wheeling. That`s an start of an very nice build. I just hope one of my three girls will be into it like we are.

What kind of welder are you guys using? Great build...inspires me to get in the garage and start working on my xj...even though its having major trans issues.

Great build, nice family, and I want the dog.

No can do on the dog. That Dog's name is KC. He has to be the best dog ever. Nothing scares him. He does like to eat the air hose when when I'm using it.
Building the XJ wouldn't be the same with out him.
Thats a great dog, is he one of those red healers? I love this build up. Its a kick in my own rear for my own build, Love the front bumper!

It's been a while since I've posted. I figured I'd stop and give everyone a quick update.
I finished up installing the 6.5" lift in the front. So far I've installed 3/4 in heim, solid stock cross over steering, new long travel shocks, YJ brake lines, rusty's trac bar, drop bracket, frame brace, and IronMan adjustable upper and lower C/A's. i also changed the front tc out put yoke and built a new driveline. I thought I would never get it done lol.
I finally got it on the road today. It was nice! No death wobble, no vibes and drives straight down the highway with no hands. On rough roads I have a very minor amount of bump steer. I had planed on changing the trac bar and the mounting location to eliminate it. After driving it I decided to leave it as the bump steer is minor. I drove it quite a bit, flexed it out and things seem to work well. I do need to extend my bump stops though. At this time I'm at 5.5" in the rear and at full stuff my tires are hitting pretty much all the way around the fender well, even with all the cutting I've done. I guess I'll have to raise the back another inch.
I'll try t get some photo's posted tomorrow

Looks good!

please tell me you've got a camaro with a 3.4L V6 to donate a new heart to replace that anemic 2.8L.....that thing would be beast with a fuel injected 3.4L

awesome job tho, that slab is really coming together and looking slick

One Baby step at a time I say. I have Major plans for this rig but it all takes time and money.
I hadn't really thought about a 3.4 though. That's a good idea! I think I'll look in to that. My plans were 302 V-8 from a Mustang, a T-5 manual or C-4 auto tranny, and a Ford 205 t/c with a low down kit, dana 44's, 513 gears. and electric lockers. Being this rig is for my daughter I might just leave it and build a second one. Who knows?

I want to put a 302 in mine too one day. I was leaning towards an aode or something in the 5 speed flavor, with a 203/205. I know they make a low kit for the 205 chevy but I have not seen a ford one yet.

No... You are right, JB Conversions makes the Lo-Max, but only for the Chevy.

I'm hoping for a Ford version soon.

well the 3.4L uses the same motor mounts and i believe the same bellhousing as the 2.8L but has a butt load more power....it is practically a bolt in swap (from what I have heard)

but the Ford Drivetrain would be awesome! I'm a big ford guy and have always wanted to put an EFI 5.0L into one of my cherokees
