MWC Stuff?

SeanR mentioned in another thread that Winterfest is our only source of income for the midwest chapter. There is a site you can go to that will make all of the products and give you the profits. They make t-shirts, mouse pads, mugs, etc...

www.cafepress.com

I figure it would be pretty easy to make some stuff using the MWC logo, and maybe make a little money.

Random thought for the day... I'm running out of t-shirts.

We use it to provide some extra items for our local jeep club.

If a complete idiot like me can get it set up and running, it's got to be easy.

They do have some interesting selections though

MWC wouldn't have to store/inventory what-not

There are some drawbacks to it:

Somewhat limited item/color selection

The free version of their service is even more limited in regards to selection/promotion of the catalog

Anyone can complain about the slogans or pictures displayed in your store, and get an design 'held'

Their base prices are high compared to a traditional silkscreener

You can check out our store at:
NIJA store

Buy something while you are there.

how is the quality of the clothing? do they have a limit to the amount of colors in your design or a limit to the actual design? can you have a front and back design on a product?

The only cafepress stores I have seen have really cheesey one color designs, yours is better than the few I've seen.

I think it would be great to create some MWC t-shirts/hats, even if we don't go the cafepress route. we wouldn't necessarily have to keep inventory, maybe have a month long preorder once or twice a year.

Didn't Rev at one time use cafepress for shirts and such?

Rev???

I meant the colors of the item blanks is kinda limited. They do not have black shirts at all.

Also their process works better with solid colors, that have a higher saturation.

The quality of the materials is what you expect from any silk screen printer. The items I got from cafe press have been from Hanes or Gildan for shirts. The same providers I get from the local printer.

Most clothing items allow a front and back design. It varies between items as far as weather it is a pocket-type, or a larger front design.

I forgot to mention they only go up to a 2-XL for sizes. But the sizing is like all manufacturers some run larger and some run smaller.

With the free store, you can only have one design of a shirt. Take the basic grey T-shirt, you can only have one logo design of it at a time. If you want to change it, you have to 're-design' it and the original can't be used while the new design is active. If you have the images uploaded, it only takes about 15 minutes to design an item but it is still kinda a hassle to do a limited run design. Example would be a shirt design for WF, if you already had a design for CF, and wanted to put the WF design on the same kind of shirt. You would have to remove the CF design.

Now this isn't the case with a premium(paid for) store. You can have as many variations as you want of a single shirt.

Cafepress has to have some competitors. The stuff I've gotten from them has looked cheap, and their hats suck.

In my opinion the MWC logo would look best on a black shirt. Now, the yellow MWC logo on the back of a black hooded sweatshirt, that would be bad ass.

I've bought a couple shirts from cafe.
Quality was decent but somewhat pricy.
Colors are very limited, usually only in white.
The profit is pretty much nil unless you sell large quantities, ask Rev.

To answer some questions, but I am too lazy too quote.

Prep: Yes, the hats look like crap, that is why they removed them from even offering them. Second, Cafe doesn't offer Black shirts AT ALL. They keep saying they are working on them, but their printing process doesn't allow black. Don't ask why, I have no knowledge of screen printer, other than what I learned in these projects. Third, if you can find someone who does the same work as Cafe, with a lesser fee structure PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Brad: You set your prices beyond Cafe's minimum. Yes, they are pricey compared to a traditional printer, but no minimum orders and they handle all the crappy issues of money and shipping Not to mention they have a very good return policy.

XJneeds a life: If whoever is setting up the store, decides to create a MWXJ thong, then you can get one.

Profits are very low....but you can set prices high...of course the stuff is not worth that much. A few of the group have bought things (Thanks) but the amount that I got from that was about $10, I keep the prices low to help my brothers. You want a thong? OK....next time I get to the site I will add 1.

CafePress is a quick and dirty way to get something on a shirt, but not really for a serious fund rasing effort.

Is your site still around?

I remembered it the other day and couldn't find it.
