Who would be interested in a weekend of swapping a motor in the 98 with me!!??? Pizza and Beer provided! I should be getting the motor this weekend. So I'm thinking April 18 or 25 after the Jamboree!

This does not align with me purchasing the Jeep.

Yea well I still need a header and both fenders........ and some new fender flare brackets..... the headliner needs to be replaced..... Windshield too..... Headliner and windshield were bad when we bought it though..... I am determined to try and kepe this rare colored and upcountry packaged xj on the road.

Bah, it's just a big chunk of steel.

Rare color? It's green. They're all green.

I don't have decent flare brackets. Those are all rusty. I have a headliner board but it'd need to be recovered like all the rest of them in the South East. You can have a windshield if you come pull it (I'd break it).

I also still have a header panel and fenders for sale but I'm supposed to have them sold this weekend for top dollar.

I do have a set of halfway decent red fenders. Passenger side is mint. The drivers side is a bit banged up.

Do not let Andy get this Jeep. Period.

I believe I have a good set of driver side fender flare brackets. The passenger side studs all twisted off when I pulled the flare.

Remind me closer to the Crawl and I will throw them in.

I could probably be there as well. Just need to do it before May. I'm just about completely booked for the month of May lol.

I could possibly be there to help. Maybe we can find those carrier bearing caps while I'm there.

That would be great! I was telling D last night on the way back with the motor if I could get just one other person that had done this and LG we could possibly knock it out in a day or two. I'm thinking the 18th is the best Saturday to do it that way if it carries over I have the next Saturday free too. Those bearings should be located before then.

Ok so it was suggested I do rear main, oil pan gasket, and valve cover gasket while it's out. Any suggestions on what gaskets to use? I have bene looking for the partially metal gasket on the intake exhaust. I have one laying around that I took off my friends TJ when we did the Borla Exhaust on it. Number on the gasket is:17941S

Looks like this:

Anyone know where to get it?

Has the date been moved? Might wanna let everyone know if it has. And as far as the intake/exhaust gasket goes, I just used a plain old Fel Pro in my YJ years ago and it's holding up just fine. I'd instead spend the extra coin on a good one-piece oil pan gasket.

Yea now shooting for the 25th of April on this.

It probably would be if we left him to his own devices. He'd have the flexplate hitting the radiator and the drain plug pointed up lol

All kidding aside, Glenn do you have the external torx socket that fits the upper bellhousing bolts? If not I'll try to find mine and bring it if I can remember the right size.

3/8 and no it was removed from my tool kit but I will be replacing it very soon! And those bolts. IIRC it's 3/8 16 thread. I have about 6 of those bolts laying around here too! :wow:

I saw a boxed set of torx sockets at Lowe's I think I'll get. Funny my Craftsmen set has them in standard sizes.....
