Mod diary for the streetpirate XJ

i have all that stuff too, i love your site, and i pretty much have done all the mods your have done

I even keep the oil pan filled up to just halfway between the "add" and the "full" marks on the dipstick rather than on "full" to keep the oil further away from the crankshaft and reduce windage even further.
The difference between the "add" and the "full" mark is 0.82L (0.87 quarts), so I have 5.3L (5.6 quarts) of oil in the pan instead of 5.7L (6.0 quarts).

make sure not to use that head

the spiders living in it wouldent appreciate that very much

"true happiness is being stroked and blown" haha i just read that for the 1st time. anyways, the buildup looks good. Keep up the good work.

so dino is making 270 horse on a 65mm tb.
is there any disadvantage to using a 75m tb?
they seem to all be the same price, and i'd rather not have to upgrade later
when i add the supercharger.
would it make the a/f ratio harder to get correct?
i do plan on running wideband O2 sensors, a gauge, and an adjustable map voltage

The only problem might be a hypersensitive throttle especially on initial tip-in.

...

yeah.
last i checked, dyno hasent actually dynoed the jeep.

You've elected to go for 295 width tires but I think they'll be much too wide. Mine are 225/70R15H and I consider them to be already wide enough.

I have the same 225/70R15 tires on my strokered XJ and traction is a major problem. Even in 2nd gear I often find the rear end fishtailing if I accelerate hard.
even with the 295's, they squeal around the corners.

last I checked, dyno hasn't actually dynoed the jeep.

That's right, I haven't, but I used the Car Test 4.5 acceleration simulation program and kept plugging in HP/TQ numbers together with my Jeep's specs until I could reproduce the same performance numbers that I'm getting in real life. It's amazingly accurate; far more accurate than any online HP calculator based on 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile elapsed time/trap speed 'cause it also takes into account vehicle aerodynamics, gearing, tire size, transmission type, and drive type (FWD, RWD, 4WD).
The outcome was 273hp @ 5000rpm and 328lbft @ 3750rpm at the flywheel, using the standard correction of 29.92inHg, dry air, and 60*F that dyno operators use. The HP/TQ numbers are 3.5% lower if you use the SAE net correction of 29.38inHg, dry air, and 77*F that US vehicle manufacturers use.

Sweet hood, paint it all black though. Im sure the tires handle well, but it does look a little hispanic..

I have no idea about that:gag: but ...... a, streetpirate, it that rust, on the roof, or did you forget there was a wrench up there :D

I like the scoops and the stripe! could have ran it all the way down the roof too!

Flash.

Did you ever make any headway with the supercharger? Ive got an m90 as well and im looking to put it on my 4.0 now and build a stroker that would be built with the sc in mind.

Well Mr. Pirate, that's the best pic showing how much the tires stick out yet. I think a set of bushwackers would look pretty nice on there, especially painted to match the body. We know there's no worry about them being torn off on a trail...

:D

Im still trying to save the money to get the block and head into the machine shop, going with the 258 rods and the cheap pistons for higher CR right now, then after i get standalone management (megasquirt) i might go long rod with custom pistons and the m90, someday.

still planning on getting the hanneman fiberglass front fenders and rear box flares and glassing them smooth to the body.

you REALLY need to ditch those tires and wheels.. hood looks good, the rest looks like.................. yeah.....

what are you charging for a 2" drop 2wd front axle now?

i havent finished one yet to have a complete cost..... i think were looking at about $400+core, $500ish if were starting w/ a 4wd axle, because we have to machine down the stub shafts, they must remain bolted in to the unit bearing

At the next meet remind me to give you some shit about it needing a lift and some 35's ;)

So far I've got my 4.0 pretty modded and I'm making some sweet power. I did the intake silencer removal from the GoJeep writeup, haha
