Mod diary for the streetpirate XJ

so your saying he gained 7 hp at the crank by stroking it? where i gained about 90.......

i have a few little things done, bored TB, adjustable map, little stuff....why is he putting down 100 horse less than me w/ a very similar set up

also, 140 + 29% is about 180, unless i did it wrong (140*1.29=180.6 still less than stock horse power)

i think im missing something here.......

the stock 97 i think up pistons and rods are stronger than the older stuiff too. my only concern with the stroker is that it would take longer to spool up and not harmonically balence as well.
Stock rods and pistons are not strong enough to run a lot of boost with. Strokers rev up just fine, and you should have the rotating assembly balanced .

Teal, I really don't think you will get near 400 hp with 6psi of boost, more around 350ish. What cam are you running in your stroker? And what are the numbers on your turbo. I'll run it on my dyno software. 9.8:1 is getting close to too hight to run 6 psi. I had a blower ready to go on my stroker but I decided I didn't want to blow it up and my cam was too big. If you are serious about a boosted stroker you need to call hesco about dished pistons.

You guys got me way too into this now so I'm keeping my dd I was planning on selling. I have a 289ci sbf sitting around so I'll make more power for less money that all of you.:gag: some saleen 18's and revamped suspension are coming soon. Has anyone considered using zj or wj drop coils up front?

yeah, the 9.8:1 with 6lbs of boost puts it at 13.8:1, i havent decided if i want to lower it. As far as the rods, mine are shot peened and the polished, i dont think theyll break

as far as the HP, well see when she hits the dyno :D

i know a guy that has a 4.6L, supercharged 8psi, 7500 redline makes 500 at the wheels, stock rods (again shot peened and polished)

still needs all the swaybar bushings, other than that the suspension is done.
went with 97 4.0 gc coils, calculated ~350#

nice, i used f150 springs cut down, i have about the same spring rate maybe a little stiffer, and dropped almost 2". i love it it handles great

Prolly stiffer, i think they are around 400# before you cut em. you got a lot of shock under it? with rates that high it may have a tendancy to bounce around alot.

what do you plan on doing for the rear?

alas, i am the poor but not starving college student and money has ran out. ive got to drop ~$100 into the heep to redo the tranny cooler and lines before its too late, and then about $500 into my plymouth scamp to get it on the road as a backup car.
now accepting donations?

He's about 75hp behind my stroker and this is what I have in addition to Andhi that's making the difference:

Home ported head
Crane 753905 cam
Homebrew FIPK with 7" S&B Powerstack
Bored TB spacer
Mustang 65mm TB
Borla header with 3.0" collector
3.0" downpipe, 3.0" inlet/2.5" outlet mufflers & tailpipe
Ford 24lb injectors + MAP adjuster
Deleted clutch fan (I have dual electric units)
Lightweight synthetic oil (Mobil 1 0W-40)

As you can see, most of the additional mods make the stroker breathe better while the last two reduce parasitic HP losses.
