Mod diary for the streetpirate XJ

thanks for the positives!

the two coolest things in the world are driving in competitive motorsports, and getting a thumbs up on the highway.

im thinking my original direction might change,
i still think it would be cool as all hell to get this thing down in the weeds and to make it handle as good as a solid axle rig can, or put c4 ifs under it.
but the biggest rush ive ever had was when i rallycrossed the jeep. now im not so sure i want to do the lowering and converting to 2wd. Its still going to handle well enough on the street, and keeping the 4wd (switching to a 242 if it will handle the torque) will let me take it up the mountain in the winter and get to those out fo the way camping spots. its not like this is my only car, ive got 2 plymouths that are in various stages of autocross/road racing builds. It might be cool to make the jeep a subi and evo killer on the dirt.
one more plug for my rallycross pics :)

Was that the $250 ebay deal or did you do better/worse? Also, did they make them in 6.125" length?

Word of advice about the rods.....have them checked by a competent machinist....just to make sure they are correctly machined....yeah I know they are brand new....have them checked anyway....especially the big end sizing.

will do, haven't had any machine work done yet, but i'll have them checked when i get the crank journals turned.

now, anybody building a stroker for a manual? ive got the 12 counterweight crank, and would trade for the 4 counterweight one since its better for my application

I just traded my 12 weight for a 4 weight last week. I'm also looking for a lighter flywheel to reduce rotating mass and increase spool up response.
