Moab Caravan from SoCal

The most direct route is 15N to 70E The 70E is pretty scenic, there are a few spot on the 15 also, ie Virgin River Gorge, coming back you go south through monument valley. Its about 80 miles longer, but scenic from what I've heard.

I'm taking the southerly route of heading east on the 10 then north to the 40 and up from there. Stopping at the Grand Canyon on Saturday, then heading in from there.
The return trip is still up in the air. We may just do the 70 to 15 route on the way home.

Re: Las Vegas Edition - Friday/Saturday

John,

What time are you picking Heather up and leaving Vegas? Where are you sleeping in Vegas?

I want to know this too;) I will be arriving in Vegas about 11 pm Friday night

Mike Rollins and Charles Stein are staying with me on Friday night. Charles needs to pick up his brother at McCarran airport at 9:00AM. Mike and Charles will leave from McCarran as soon as they retrieve Charles' brother.

I will be leaving my house in the NW part of Vegas approximately 8:00AM or as soon as we finish breakfast. I'm driving my motorhome and flat towing the XJ behind it. Would very much like to have somebody with whom to caravan. I guess that Mike and Charles might be an hour or two behind me.

Who else is spending Friday night in Vegas? Where are you staying and when will you arrive?

BTW... will be monitoring CB channel 4.

Nothings in stone yet, but I plan to get into Vegas in the wee hours of the morning. Sleep til I wake up (probably in a walmart parking lot), then grab Heather and hit the road. I was figuring on rolling out of Vegas around 10ish. I drive fairly slow (58-60 towing), but that should put me in Moab in time for dinner. Andy, do you have room at your place for my truck and trailer? If so I could pull in there and you could rattle my cage when your ready to leave.

Heather, shoot me a cell number and some info on where you're staying so I can plan ahead a little.

One week!!!!!!!!!

Will be passing through Vegas lunch time on friday and spending the night north of Cedar City somewhere arriving Slickrock cabin 4 saturday after lunch ready to run sunday mornin......SANTA

So what are we running Sunday morning?

I like getting out of here as early as possible. I try for leaving at 8:00AM. I like to get to Slickrock before sundown in order to hook up the motorhome while it's light outside. I too set the cruise control for 60 but the steep hills along parts of I-15 and much of I-70 bring it way down to 45. I'll also need to stop once for gas.

Only room in front of my house for my motorhome. Charles and Mike will likely park across the street in front of a side wall. You could park in front of the house just west of mine. It's vacant. However, I don't know if it's at all convenient to picking up Heather. I'm way out in Summerlin.

Re: Las Vegas Edition - Friday/Saturday

I am Heather:wave:

Are you working or living in Vegas? Or flying in to meet John?

I'm just trying to be helpful in figuring out where to park John overnight.

I'm flying into Vegas from Hotlanta on Friday the 3rd should arrive around 11pm local time.

John does not want to pick me up on the strip or at the airport so I need to find somewhere to go from there...

God Love him he was one of the first to offer me a ride to Moab
