Was your jeep the maroon one with all the stickers on the front? That one, a white 97+ from Houston, and the green xj with yellow d-rings (I was in that one) was the only Texas plates I saw. :wave1:

How did your jeep fair after your flop? Badges of honor or needs repair?

once i was back on rubber all was good... several badges of honor... new windshield is in order... the nutserts that the roof rack were bolted into roof through all ripped out so that's the only major issue...

since i need to pull the headliner to fix some sagging the plan is to lose the nuserts and bolt straight through with a long, thin strip on the inside to act as a washer/brace to keep them from pulling through...

luckily it was a pretty soft flop...

I Had to do something simular but I used fender washers on the under side. The weight of my roof rack, driving at freeway speeds and hitting many small bumps made mine come loose.

i'm considering something like fender washers if i can't get the longer strip... the strip i think will add more strength and rigidity...

be prepared to start and stop it a lot to save batteries & tape for each obstacle... my dad ended up rigging one up inside his TJ off the crossbar (caged) and could easily rec. on/off and run power thru a cig lighter converter...

but it did work pretty well on the brush guard...

I am by no means a technology guru but it dosen't seem like it would be THAT hard to have some sort of monitor inside, maybe one of those t.v.s mounted in the visor and possibly controls for the camera inside. Don't they make cameras with remotes?

actually that sounds like money better spent on the jeep.

I've been trying to figure out how to mount one inside the XJ so that it stays horizontal so give a feel to some of the inclines and stuff. I was thinking of a bar and suspending it so that it would rotate around the bar.

RAM mounts are probably available... their suction cups are rock solid...
