MJ gas tank skid?

okay, I'm giving you crap... I'm curious myself, as it's something I plan on for my MJ before heading back out to California for the summer. I have some vague ideas, but I think it will pretty much boil down to my usual strategy; 1/8" box tubing, 1/4" plate, welder, and go to town...

And yeah Brett, I'm still on stock skids, but what do you expect from someone with a longbed? :moon:

does yours have a stock skid on the gas tank? I've never seen one on an MJ. and the plastic piece of crap doesn't count as a skidplate unless it's an H2

I'll try to get a picture when it dries up a little.

My '88 shortbed has a steel skid. The '87 has the rubber "skid." Both came from the factory with front hooks. The '88 has a Dana 35 rear axle, the '87 has a Dana 44. Go figure.

Much too cold and sloppy to get pics now, but I'll be working underneath very soon to replace the brake line that ruptured this afternoon. If you don't have other pics by then I'll try to get some.
