Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTZ

i just put the 33/12.5/15 MTZ's on mine last week. rides nice, fairly quiet. I paid $165ish at 4wheelparts, I just saw in 4wd summer 06 catalog there $119 for the same tire with free shipping till June 30 on all products regardless of truck freight as long as purchase price is over $300. I hate 4wp, always have, always will, I'm still kicking myself for giving them one more chance.

MTX's wear like iron. 40K easy if not 50K.

Maybe you should consider proper inflation, alignment, and a rotation every now and then.

Actually I do. The jeep is perfectly aligned, I rotate every 3k, but I have been working on perfecting the pressures (not enough to cause wear).
I havent done the math lately, but I was facing about 28k before I hit the wear bars. They are wearing pretty even, which suggests proper inflation. They do seem to be wearing slower lately though (?).

I wouldnt make it a habit to excuse someone of something before you know what the hell you are talking about. Ive got alittle backround in the auto industry....so ya, I do know how to maintain my tires. Thanks for the recommendation.

From 4wp wholesalers website on the all terrain:
Mickey Thompson Baja Radial ATZ
33x15.515LT

M/T5155
$438.99$269.99

Same tire at www.4wd.com (only 12.50 wide)
is $142.99.
Avoid 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers at all costs (usually a higher cost to buy there).

That's not a spelling problem. It's a grammar problem. That is a correctly spelled word, it's just the wrong word for the intent.:lecture:

true.... correctly spelled, wrongly used.

looked good when I wrote it...then I read it again later :(

I've got a set of Baja Radial MTX's with 16K on them that look like crap, but I ran them a lot in the rocky desert, and they were chunked and scraped to death, along with wearing very quickly. I'll be thrilled if they make it all the way to 24K, but it will be close.

I have the MTX and so far i am very happy with them. but i only have aobut 4500 miles on them. but most people i have talked to that i have seen with them say nothing but good stuff. i also do most of my driving on the street, not too much off road.

So does anyone else run the MTZ's yet? Only a couple of people with experience on the MTZ's have spoken up so far and it'd be nice to hear some real world experience on them before I drop the cash.

I have some friends with these. One has a 33" MTZs on a Comanche open diffed. The other has a 89 Waggy locked with 35" MTZs. Wheeled disney all last weekend on the rocks and in the trails and they both did awsome. For sure my next set of tires when I get ready to step up to 35s.

Another update on the MTX's. I'm at 17K now. I took them in two weeks ago to get them re-balanced after running President's Choice near Lake Havasu City, AZ. They were chunked so bad that they refused to balance them and said I need new tires. I still have tread left, but the tread lugss on the outside of the tires have ripped off all the way down. Probably a good tire for most stuff, rides and handles nice, has good traction, but doesn't last in the scratchy rocks.
