Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTZ

Okay SOMEONE has to be running MTZ's (that's a Z folks!) My current build plan includes a set of MTZ's for BOTH my XJ and my YJ 33 12.5 R16's on Rubicon rims for the XJ and 35, 12.5 R17's on current year JK 17's (using a 5 on 5.5 spacer/adapter).

I specifically want to know how their claims of lower than average road noise hold up to reality.... Cause Baja Claws are freakin noisy bitches! and If their MTZ's are being compared to their Claws then I'm not going to be impressed...

I'd be happy with something comparable to a BFG MT and might just end up with them but I love the look of the MTZ's

You're just like me, I have a JK Rubicon and a 94 XJ. I just ordered a RE 5.5" and I'm trying to decide what tire to get.

while on the Micket Thompson baja topic ... Whats the deal with the Baja crushers that are on Rustys site ?? they look very cool with the skulls and everything but ive searched the web and cant find anything about them...Has anone seen them or heard of them , or is it a Rustys exclusive or something?

Hey guys, I have been running the MT MTZ's for just over a year on my TJ. They are 33x12.5x15's on 15x10 rims and I absolutly love them. I have put about 8K on them and they do hold true to the reduced noise claim. When they were installed the tire shop put 45# of pressure in them and they were a wreck waiting to happen. About 8 months ago or so JP magazine had a tire review on them and everything they said stands true to this day. They are a great all purpose tire with minimal road noise. I did find that after I dropped them down to 19-23# of pressure they ran much smoother. Granted my milage suffered a bit from that, but hey, it is a freakin Jeep, not a Honda. I am in North Missouri an we dont have the rocks in this region like other do, we have multi terrains, and I have found the MTZ's to run great on everyuthing from mud, rocks, mining chat (small gravel), fire trails and a little bit of everything in between. I like them so much that when we travel to other wheelin destinations, I will swap them from my TJ to my XJ (trailer only rig). Well, if ya have any more questions about them, pm me. :compwork:

BTW I bought these today from this seller on ebay. $449.00 plus $120.00 shipping for a total of $142.25 each shipped. He does state these have cosmetic blemishes. After researching for several days including used tires, I found this was the best deal I ran accross.

Good stuff dude, three pages over a year and that's the first actual review!

I've been running mine since about last march. I've probably put something around 10k on them by now. 33/12.5/15. They still have lots of good tread, they do fine on most road conditions except hard packed snow/ice. They are getting fairly loud now and when going slow, 20mph or lower I can feel almost every lug hitting the road, it actually makes my whole interior rattle. I'm running around 22psi.
