MG's 2000 2Dr Build "Greyhound"

I got my 2002 Suburban mirror in today as well. Its a Gentex-177 model, paid 60 with shipping of ebay. I got the idea from a build on jeepforum. Install should go pretty smoothly as the xj is already wired for the temp sensor and the compass is self programming. Anyone has any information on how the stock temp sensor is wired into the cherokee's interior (if it is at all).

Heat shrinked the 7 wires

Now I have to figure out the wiring to get the temp and compass functional

From the left: black w/white stripe, green w/white stripe, pink, grey, green, black and another pink, any thoughts?

Any updates on getting this wired up? I love this feature in my wife's '03 KJ... would love to add to my '01 XJ. :)

Nice build and nice write-ups w/pics. Always appreciate when someone takes the extra time during an install to document w/pics.

No updates on the mirror, it's actually still sitting on my workbench. I have been lazily searching around for the temp sensor and/or plug from a parted out XJ with no real luck. I might just have to cut mine off the wiring harness and use it.

I bought C4X4 tow hook brackets but have yet to install them. I also sold off my XJ44 and hp30 and got a 2" hitch as part of the deal. Got that cleaned and painted up and installed as well.

Not a whole lot going on with the XJ right now. Trying to save for school and my move to Utah.

Id like to at least get some 2" OME leaves for the rear before I go.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the info. I was thinking if I went this route to add the RV Mirror w/temp sensor I'd have to find a thermometer somewhere, etc... Obviously more work than just a simple plug-n-play type install.

I used the temp sensor from an S10 Blazer on my Gentex-177. Worked fine and plenty in the JY's.

Search here for Gentex.. bit more input on this swap. ehall and magimerlin added some nice info.
