Some may remember a soldier of mine that was seriously wounded around Christmastime. He recently stopped by my place while on leave from Walter Reed and we got a chance to catch up...he is doing as well as someone in his predicament could...and thankfully the Govt and his community are really taking care of him.

He has recently been awarded the very first Combat Action Badge the Army has given...http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/read.php?story_id_key=7531

Making me pretty damn proud of this guy....

If you remember back to Desert Storm, lots of units saw action, but only the Grunts and Medics recieved recognition (CIB, CMB) even though doc only gave out motrin, or the Grunt stayed in the rear they still got it...

Well, since MANY different MOS' are actually seeing close combat, and weren't being recognized, the Army wanted to recognize it. I'm hoping that it won't be given away, or "standardized like a combat patch...
