Good afternoon everyone. I just finished installing my IRO 3" lift kit (full 3.5" leaf packs) this past week.
I opted to get the Bilstein shocks instead of the doetschs or the generic ones. The shocks were drop shipped from Bilstein and I got the following shocks:
Front: F4-BE5-6252-H5 / 33-185590 13.66" / 21.63" collapsed/extended
Rear: F4-BE5-6253-H5 / 33-185606 14.13" / 22.58" collapsed/extended
After doing some quick measurements in the garage with a jack, it seemed like the shocks were to short. Bilstein says these are targeted for 2-2.5" lifts.
So once every thing else was completed I decided to use a fork lift to get some solid measurements. Here is what I found.
Front extended: 24-25"
Front compressed: 16"
Rear extended: 22.25"
Rear compressed: 18"
So I feel like the shocks I got are too short, am I correct? I have never done shocks before so I could be wrong. I know I have to add 1" static for the front since I have to use adapters, but the front still seems to short.
Looking at eshocks, it seems like the Bilstein F4-BE5-A463-H7 /33-186542 would be better as its length is 15.12" / 24.31"
Or the F4-BE5-6248-H5 / 33-185552 it has 15.91" / 25.93". However, I would have to add around an 1" bump stop to keep from over compressing them.
Here are some pictures of how I measured the shocks.
Thanks for the help!
