The First Quarterly meeting was held at Medved Jeep / Chevrolet in Wheat Ridge. Many thanks goes out to Bill Maffeo the General Manager for the use of their conference room and Mike Blaine the on-site Caffeteria chef that catered our meeting! Gourmet burgers with all the fixings, chips, potato salad and a variety of cookies were enjoyed by everyone.
The meeting was called to order at 11:20 am.
Administrative business discussed:
• The bank account status for the Chapter: It’s a no-go.
’s BOD has run into huge problems getting Chapter accounts established and has shelved the idea for now.
Old Chapter business:
• The proposed
sponsored event at Avalanche Ranch didn’t come up for discussion during this meeting. This event still needs a committee to be developed to organize it. Volunteers are more than welcome to contact the Chapter Board to help out.
• Bandimere Speedway Swap Meet event – V.P. Troy Betka contacted the Hospitality director there and discovered that an event at Bandimere would end up being pricey. Bandimere is not an option. Anyone with other ideas is welcome to contact the Chapter Board.
New Chapter business:
• Colorado Fest: President Led Lancos suggested that we hold this event exclusively in Buena Vista this year rather than splitting the event between B.V. and Ouray. He proposed that we utilize the same B.V. campground location, and that he would be able to create a trail list with enough diverse trails to appeal to all types of preferences for the duration of the event. This was put to a vote and approved unanimously. The dates remain as originally suggested: August 7th thru 14th.
• President Led Lancos informed the group that there is discussion ongoing about Colorado hosting the informal Best Of The West event. Details will be posted at a later date.
• President Led Lancos opened discussion about the Chapter’s first event of the season – a group run of Chinaman’s Gulch in Buena Vista. Meeting attendees voted to hold this event April 16th & 17th with the group run on Saturday the 16th, and another run of “Carnage Canyon” on Sunday. There are primitive camping facilities available at Ruby Mountain C.G. where the “headquarters” will likely be.
• Henry Pawball “TVGuy” informed the attendees of an event that he’s participating in. Henry is involved with COHVCO (Colorado Off Highway Vehicle Coalition) and they are sponsoring an event at the National Western Stock Show complex April 9th & 10th which will feature many parts vendors and hosted by 4Wheel Parts Warehouse. Henry invited the Colorado Chapter to join his group at their display to promote
. We look forward to working with Henry in this endeavor!
• DJ Kittrell brought his Chapter logo for consideration along with Terry Breheny and his version. The group voted unanimously for DJ’s design to be adopted as the official Chapter logo. DJ will be looking into production details and we hope to have these logos available very soon! Stay tuned! Congratulations DJ! And thanks for your hard work!
• Terry Breheny “MMIXJ” will be looking into producing a run of his popular “unofficial” chapter logo for private purchase from him. Look for future details about this from Terry.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
