Leafs always need to settle, throw some weight in the trunk (ie, sandbags) a few hundred pounds for a week or two may do the trick.
I assume you are talking about the u-joint on the front driveshaft? They may have compressed the slip-joint in the shaft which can cause grease from inside the shaft to squeeze out (onto or near your u-joint). Make sure you re-grease the slip-joint and u-joint if it is greasable.
