... and the worst thing is that I'm very picky. I've spent the best part of the whole week searching and I just can't come up with one I'm 100% ok with. I'm so used to building desktops that I'm just to picky when it comes to choosing a laptop :D

Anyway- sittin in the #1 spot right now is an Alienware m-5700 configured to how I like sitting at about 1700. I realize Alienware is big money, but for a laptop I have not found something better. I've looked at at gamer-based companys like Cyber-power (and all the similar clones of the same laptop chasis) - who offer a great deal, but they dont have the larger 17" screen...

whatever you do - dont buy into a low voltage video card...

i have a Toshiba A670? too lazy to flip it over...

I love the huge screen, large keyboard, and ease of use, but this god damn ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 sucks major balls! i cant play Call of Duty... the frame lag is terrible...

Makes me want to build another desktop, however, i dont have the $$$ - it all goes into the heep.

I dont know anyone who has had any problems with their alienware system - a friend had a hard drive die, and had a new one in the mail in 2 days - they stand by their products...

The Alienware I set up comes with a 6800, a gig of ddr 400 and dual hard drives in a RAID 0 config :D - who knows how that will go but I'm willing to try it. This wont be for playing games (that's what my desktop is for), but if I want to play something in class I want it to handle it.

I looked through Toshiba earlyier today and I couldn't find where you could configure your own- so I dropped them...
