Litter

At work I am fortunate enough to have a big window looking out to an open yard, backed by some woods, with some of the parking lot in view to the far right. Quite peaceful and scenic, given that I am at work.. Anyhow...

I have noticed some accumulation of trash out in the yard that is along the parking lot. Didn't think much of it, maybe the wind carried it over..? But, I have now been watching a lady (from a different building) on her smoke break sitting there, talking with another co-worker, freely tossing their garbage in the yard. Drink cans, food wrappers, cigarette butts, whatever they don't feel like walking back into their building with, maybe 80ft away.

Really burns me up when I see someone litter, especially when there are accessible trash bins, THAT THEY DONT EVEN NEED TO EMPTY, available. I am urged to do something, may clean it up and leave a sign, or even put a trash bin right there! But, I am not one to cause trouble at the work place...

That's my rant. Share thoughts/stories, maybe there is some constructive way to solve the issue...

Take a video of the lowlifes littering and show it to whoever is in charge of the business they work at. Tell them that if their employees don't clean up their act (and trash) you'll post it all over social media. Guaranteed results!

taking a video is a good idea, no need to threaten anything that will just make them defensive or maybe even passive-aggressive. Just send some pictures and a DVD to the boss with a note saying your employee litter is coming into my property.

I'd hit up the chain of command to get a bin out there.

I used to work as a military contractor. My truck was parked along the route to the pier.
I'd always come back to my truck with garbage tossed in the bed and we had a garbage can right there. Some people just need to be punched in the $%$#.

That is the one thing that drives me nuts about when I go out and run my scale trucks, usually in parks are something along those lines. Most aggrevating, the guys who go and fish along the river, I don't know how many times I have had to cut fishing line (sometimes with rusty hooks in them!) from around the axles of my SCX10 and Wheely King in years past, haven't had my Ascender, Telluride, or Jimny out along the river yet, but I'm expecting the same with those. It's not like there aren't cans that you pass while heading back to your car, or even have a nearly non existent walk to where you're parked, then there's the time Dad and I came across two trees that were tied together with fishing line!?

I hate littering. It's one of my absolute pet-peeves. In fact, I almost got arrested when i picked up the beer cups college buddies threw when the cops showed up...long story, but I got caught holding all the cups because I picked them out of the forest

Thanks for all the support, glad many of us share this pet-peeve. Today, the girls were out there again, but no littering.. of coarse when I am prepared to take action. They are out there several times a day, so it wont be long until they strike again..

One of my father's friends was out in the woods (hunting, IIRC), and saw something on the ground, he picked it up, held it long enough to figure it was just junk, and he left it back on the ground. A game warden fined him for littering, even though it was not his trash.
