Lifting an 98 XJ

mudsluts

NAXJA Forum User
This is my first XJ. I have been modifying CJs for a while now. It is a 98 XJ, stock at the moment. I am wanting it to be dual purpose, as it is a DD right now, will still be after I lift it. I have already bought a 8.8 for the rear. Right now I am looking into long arm lifts. (so far I am between RE, T&T and Clayton) I drive about about 25 miles to work everyday, so I'd like to keep a similar to stock ride. I am looking for enough lift for 33s. Anyone have any suggestions? Also with the SYE, should i get the new shaft setup or the slash and tap setup?

Sorry for the newb questions, any help would be greatily appreciated,
Rich

search, the end. All your questions are now answered.

BTW I run RE 4.5". RE hack n tap, 33s, 4.56s, etc etc and drive 80 miles a day no issues.

searching for clayton hardarm and T&T I cant really find anything. Is there another way to write T&T

TNT = T&T

Btw TNTs Long ars is the most popular kit out there. I've not heard any issues from anyone that has them.

i have the same year jeep and im also looking into the tnt kit and full traction kiti have not decided which kit either i like the tnt kit but can get a great deal on full traction kit.

go for RE 5.5 and get tnt long arms....somehow you can order the 5.5 kit without the drop brackets and arms...should be a cheaper kit in the long run...

I decided to just go with TnT complete kit. I am curious to know what shocks are people running with this stuff, and what size are they? Please help

I like RE monotubes, another good choice are Bilstein 5150s.

You won’t be disappointed in the TNT kit; I am running it right now and love it. As far as shocks. Zach listed good choices for brands but for size unfortunately each application is different. The best thing to do is put the kit on, take it you local shop or area you can ramp it, disco the stock shocks and run it up the ramp. Then measure the compressed and extended shock length for both front and rear. Once done you will need to match your measurements to the shocks you want.
