Less than 2 weeks...whatcha got left to do?

I think there's more... Every time I go to Remi's house, he points out things on my Jeep that need attention.

:D Well I gotta get other people working on their jeeps so that I don't feel as bad when I spend all the time on mine. Btw I forgot to mention that you might want to put the tow hooks up on top of your bumper so that you get a better approach angle :)

I'm about ready. I have a couple of quick things to do this weekend...
-chase down a noise (70mph+ only!) :eyes:
-swap out the front coils
-check the alignment and center the steering wheel

I should be ready! :woohoo:
I'm DONE!
coils swapped out and adjusted w/ACOS
found my friggen noise! (Bushwacker on fender edge!)
everything tightened and lubed

I'll do an oil change next weekend and change out an exhaust doughnut between the muffler and cat. (slight leak)
Then it's on to Moab on Thursday!

Well isnt that nice:)

I can safely say that working on the transfer case is not my definition of fun. I got the dang 2-low kit in, and am about 75% done with the Old_man SYE.

Anyone got any tips for drilling the hole in the tailshaft? That metal is friggin tough. Now I can order my DS though, and will have a driveable vehicle.

Put it in gear and let it spin at idle. This will act as a lathe and you will have a straight hole.

OMG!

That has to be the most OKIE thing yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Next you'll tell him to hold the drill againt the wall and back up into it! (DON"T DO THIS) :gee:

Buy a sharp drill bit! Only the end is hard the rest of it is normal inside!

Will this not prevent the drill bit from going in at an angle and keep it perfectly centered? Are you telling him to NOT do this? This has worked for me and many others. I didn't think of it.

Rear bumper and then i'm finished, (wifes says i'm never finished) at least my armor is.

Okie, I may do that, but in its current state the t-case is empty and not averything is sealed properly for fluid, so your idea may or may not be good.

Mark- I bought a brand new "F" type drill bit. The guy at the nut and bolt store said it was the correct kind for me to be able to tap a 5/16th hole in the output shaft.

Thanks for the idears.

Works great to find the center and keep the bit on a level plain......

I'm not quite ready yet...... :(

Story of my life..was supposed to be done today..now I'm getting thursday/friday..and a lot of what I wanted done..not even on the list. We'll see. As of yesterday, the front bumper wasn't even in the shop. How about we call my left hand a tow point, I can steer with the right, and I've got pretty strong wrists. :P Then again, I wouldn't know what to do, if everything worked out a week in advance. I'll be the guy signing up for 5 days of kane's creek..just trying to get my feet wet... hasta
It's a whole new rig, cept for about 4 parts..if you count the steering wheel :P I'll be down when it's ready..guess my patience is on back-order, too.

I got my rear axle in today!
I got the front end stuff done last weekend!

All I have left is:
Order D/S
Install D/S
Change gear on VSS
Re-pack all of the tools and supplies that are scattered all over the shop

I also might put my Bushwhackers back on in my spare time!

Perhaps I will bring it to Moab the way it is, and we can have one final wrench fest in the campground Monday !

Nah, leave the Bushwackers off. It looks too much like mine as it is! :moon: :laugh3:

You haven't seen it lately, it has no rear window, the lift gate has been customized by a tree, and there are real cool pin stripes down the sides now.

I don't know why I keep putting them back on, the one needs washers to keep the screw heads from pulling through.

As of right now I just have to get my exhaust welded up, but over the last week and a half Ive done 4.10s, new front end, all new steering, and a locker in the back...

I really wish I wouldve had the time to get 33s on it, but hey, you win some you lose some...

I and a buddy replaced the bad fuel pump, which was only 8 months old. Threw on a new filter too, while I was down there snorting gasoline. Well..a couple things didn't..and likely won't get done..my e-brake is um..missing..just found that today..or didn't find it..I dunno where the cables and such are..for all I know..re routed and I just can't find 'em...and I mentioned in another thread the tow hooks that were supposed to be on the bumper..and aren't..and the whole reason I had on-board air installed was to air up the 35's..well..I have a compressor..no tank..no air chuck..no way to do air tools..but..I have a compressor :P So..something to look forward to during the winter..putting all the stuff on, I wanted/needed for this trip.. I'm sure that's a familar story to you all, too.
My own fault and a viscious circle..not enough time/expertise to do the work myself..living 110 miles from the shop..and working 75 hours a week..no time to check up on things like I should have. But when I tell someone..I need THIS because of THAT...ya kinda expect it to be addressed. But, the rest of the work actually done..looks pretty good. Internal cage was more to tie into the sleeve work and such on the frame. Teraflex 60 in back, 50 in front.. long arm kit and stuff..RE 5.5 lift..that's all in. Should be a nice rig, just need some seat time to ramp up my skills..and..make this all worth while. See ya Monday, people.. I've got some control arms if someone needs those, and once someone with a clue looks at the 35 shafts I have..we'll know what spares those can be for someone. Hope to help someone on the trail and pay back some of all the help I've gotten in the past year.

Poomba, what extra control arms do you have?

Tom

I got the um...well..they're ah..fawk, I don't know what they are.. wasn't a long arm kit..want me to bring them to moab, or do you need the uppers and lowers tomorrow to get moving? I can bring them to salt lake sunday (today) if you really needed 'em fast. 435 831 4610. I'll be loading up the jeep today, but can work around that. Teraflex stuff I had put on there, right before 4dyce ate my rig. call anytime, I'm up now (04:38 am). they're in great shape, looks like, just a lil grease on 'em. They're about 2 months old. Had the long arm kit put on mine, this past week, when I got the RE 5.5.

I guess I should have been more specific. I'm considering new adjustable UCAs for when I install the drop brackets, which will be sometime in the not too near future. The arms I have now look like they'll be too long for that application. So these arms you have are Teraflex's?
