Legal advice?

So I was involved in a collision last Friday in a friends car (he was driving). A lady pulled out right in front of us on our lunch break. We T-boned her at about 45-50 mph. We got the police report today and the lady recieved the citation for failing to yield. We were all three taken to the hospital by ambulance. My buddy has a broken nose and huge cut across nose and eye, I had a nasty gash on my elbow, another on my right shin and severe bruising of the sternum. (from the seatbelt) My friend had a five point harness on his side so he just got bruised shoulders. The lady I'm not sure about she had a broken arm I think which was very fortunate for her. She was elderly so I'm very happy she's not dead. I need some legal advice though. I've never been in an accident that actually injured me before. I missed the whole week at work and even when I go back to work on Monday I will only be at about 60% health. I don't have insurance yet either because I've only been at this job for about 2 months. So my total bills for the hospital not including 12 x-rays, a ride in an ambulance, and missing a week of work are about 1800.00. Does anyone know the chances of me getting retribution for this:twak: errr.. restitution. I see the ambulance chaser lawyers on TV claiming they get you all kinds of money but how true is this? I also want to add I do not want to become rich off of this incident but would like to get the bills and weeks worth of pay paid for. The lady and my friend both had the proper insurance also. Really I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this any pointers appreciated.

Submit the bills to your buddies insurance company, thats why he has insurance, they in turn will recover it from the woman who got the ticket. As far as retribution is concerned, geeze, she's and old lady and that can get you put in jail, what you gonna do go beat her up :D I think you mean restitution.... :D :D :D

Do not go to the lawyers you see all those adds for. If anything find a smaller practice that also deals with accidents.
By going through the insurance you should have all the bills covered. In regards to missing work... well, if you wanna get that taken care of I believe you will have to get a lwayer involved. Prepare to give him about a 3rd of what you get though. OH and don't give him any money up front: he should be working for a percentage of the fee, which means you win = he wins, you lose = he looses.

Is Georgia a no fault state? You were the passenger. Your injuries and any losses due to missed time at work will be paid by one of the driver's insurance companies, but the way your state's insurance regulations are written will determine which one. Get a copy of the police report for the accident. It should list the names and contact info for both insurance companies. Contact both, file a claim against both, and let them argue about who pays for what.
