Largest spare tire in OEM location?

Here's some pics of a 30x9.50-15 BFG AT in the stock steel rim at aprox. 34psi.('00 XJ) It's mounted on the stock hold down bolt (originally had a factory donut spare)on the stock shelf. For some reason, I couldn't get the top and bottom of the tire in the same pic(operator error, there:D)

Here's the clearance to the speaker grill, . . . . . . . . . . and to the rear hatch

this is the(lack of)clearance to the back seat, . . . . . . . .and the tire shelf bracket it's sitting on.

This is the retaining bolt. The bracket it mounts to has 2 holes.(For the donut, the bolt goes through the bottom hole.)

You could probably take the shelf bracket out and a 31" would go in without compressing the tire on the hatch. or hitting the speaker. I don't think the earlier (pre-96) jeeps had as big a bump on the roof for the speakers, and they might have had a little more room to the rear(fiberglass hatch instead of steel)
