Hell of a gutsy move to fly that big blue and white 747 right in to Iraq.

Regardless of ones personal views on the war, that move took balls. Amazing they pulled off the secrecy.... but what a boost for the troops.

I can't help it, but I would have loved to see the faces on the guys that are shooting at our troops when they heard the President was there, and they had no clue. :)

Hell Ya! I was very impressed with this visit. I know his critics will call it a political move, but I think it was great and will do wonders for the Troops! made me proud to have served under his command.

Very cool and what a great moral booster for the troops to be served Thanksgiving turkey by the President himself.

The critics will search for fault no matter how far they have to reach for it.

And a truely selfless act would have been serving up turkey at a homeless shelter.

So, is that what you did? If so, kudos to you, if not.........

Im not the CiC. Nor am I seeking photo ops.

He is not the first, nor the last CiC to visit troops during battle.

He did give up dining with his family to visit some troops in Iraq. He did so as a gesture, and was in some danger. His visit did good for the troops.

If you want to see it as just a photo op, fine. Sure, that was a side effect. However, if it helps the troops, how can it be a bad thing?

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I think serving up the homeless would set a more appropriate example, show humility and would likely get much more political mileage (not that I give a rats ass about anyones political image)...... Maybe next year.

here's the thought of a friend who was in Bahgdad.

You guys only see what the news wants you to see. I am here and this was a major pain. It totally ruined a lot of peoples only time to catch their breath. First of all, they took our weapons!!!! Then they closed half the dinning facility. No soldiers were allowed on the side with the president. Only NCOs and Officers! The soldiers waited in line to eat for over 2 hours. They closed all the roads so some soldiers, including me, spent 5 hours sitting in a vehicle waiting to get back in side the gate. By the time we got back, the dining facility was closed and we enjoyed MREs!! He is my Commander in Chief and I will follow his orders but I think this was a re-election ploy.

Just a different opinion....from someone who was there.
