KIND OF A silly tire question

Grinding makes the white stand out more.
You have ti cover it up as it won't come off

these tires perform amazingly well. I have yet to run a better tire on the rocks, sand. They could be better in snow, but they aren't a snow tire.

I saw these a while back and didn't know what to make of the tread pattern so I passed by them. Few weeks ago I saw them wheeled and I was impressed. I really want to pick up a set up damn are they pricey. Still trying to find a local dealer who might be able to get me a better price than I have found online. I probably won't be buying tires for a while though so by the time I am shopping again I may be able to find a used set for a reasonable price.

I could be wrong but they sure look directional to me. (the white letters are inboard)

Nothing looks directional about this tire

Do that and you'll end up with white walls instead of white letters. :nono:

It's not painted, when the tires are being put together they go through an extra step for the sidewalls and the white is molded into the sidewall itself...you CANNOT grind it off.

What we have done at my shop is get some spray on bedliner...works well and lasts....unless you rub a curb!

Bedliner is the kind of thing I would expect to break down the rubber, since it has to contain chemicals to keep itself liquid.

My kid has those tires on his rig and has the white lettering facing out. He was a fan of black out, but now he's really into the lettering and thinks it looks better now. Wear them proudly and get some BFG KM2's when they finally wear out. :)

On that view it's plainer, and when I look back at the original picture it's clear too. I must have been looking at it crooked.

They're still very odd looking tires, but who cares as long as they perform?

I think they look like scifi tires. Like you'd see them on a vehicle built for exploring alien planets. The tires I think are ugly are the weird artsy organic ones (interlocking bones, lucky charms, flames) that look like some hipster's tattoo sleeves.

I stand corrected, I guess the last time I was laying on the ground they just appeared to be directional. That picture says otherwise though, thanks for that ;) .

Yeah, the clue would have been that the white letters are inboard....nobody makes a white letter tire that is directional, unless it has white letters on both sides....why would they spend the extra time and money to build a tire with white letters if they were going to be inboard.

PLUS, if they WERE directional, and the white letters were facing inboard, wouldn't that mean that one side is going the wrong direction??? Think about it....

Yes, single-sided sidewalls would follow the same rule as asymmetrical tires, and if directional, they'd have to come in mirror image pairs.

When I saw this thread it started to make me think they were directional Because of the white letters on one side. I thought the white letters on a single side was because they never intended for you to run them with the black letters showing. So, they did spend extra time and money to make a tire that has white letters inboard....
