I have a question guys .. i didnt want to start another thread .. since this is all on the same topic of my new to me XJ ...
i bought a set of ravines off ebay ... they are factory 15 inchers, 5x4.5, 8 inch rims .. im really confused .. i failed to understand that they are 8 inch rims .. now im baffled as to which tires to put on them .. i currently have factory steel rims with 225/75r15 wrangler sra's on there .. and the rim is SEVEN inches factory .. i THINK they are factory with 95,000 miles on them .. this xj seems to be all factory .. exhaust is still factory, shocks still factory .. nothing was touched on this thing as far as i can tell ..
the question about what the biggest tire i can run has been answered .. 235/75r15's comfortably without rub .. but now i have to find a tire in that approximate size that can accomodate an 8 inch rim .. i went to tirerack and there are VERY few tires that have a 'RIM WIDTH RANGE' of more than 6-7" ... since i DONT have a lift, other than my factory up country which gets me less than an inch, would it be ok to mount up a tire whos maximum rim width range is 7 inches on an 8 inch rim ?
Which tires/what size are you guys running on your Ravine rims on factory lifts ? Seems like tirerack wants me to upgrade size to 30x9.5r15 to get that extra comfort to accommodate the 8 inch rim of the ravine. Will that be a problem? To big ?
Thanks again for the help all .. sorry to be so full of lousy questions ..
thanks !
PS I'm leaning heavily towards the General Grabber AT 2 ... seems like a good tire .. affordable for my daily driver to help take miles off my pickup !
