Hey guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself really quick. My name is Nick. I'm stationed at MCAS New River with the Marine Corps. Just bought a 97 Jeep Cherokee XJ and plan to feed an offroad addiction with it! I'm still on my deployment right now, coming home in less than a paycheck's time. My dad picked it up for me around the Charlotte, NC area and says it's in perfect mechanical condition. Took me over 3 months of craigslist-ing to find the one that I wanted. Hopefully by the end of fall I will have a wheeling machine! Anyways, it'd be great to meet some locals, by locals I mean either Jacksonville, NC area or Charlotte, NC area. I'm in both places very often!

Thanks,
Nick

Don't live close to you but welcome to the addiction!

Thanks for your service!

You'll have about 10 good months to get her ready for next years crawl.

RedHeep lives out your way. Great guy and a fellow Marine.

Welcome aboard. Have fun and ask questions and post up your progress.

Welcome to the fold...and get home safely!

Thanks for your service.

Hey guys,
thanks for all the welcome-ness and intros! This sure does seem to be one of the friendliest forums I've been on so far! I will definitely hit you all up in the Charlotte area once I get back, I will be in Charlotte the last two weeks of August, if any of you can work with that?

As for pics, will post them up AS SOON as I get to some high speed internet! I have some pics out here with me, but I can't access websites such as photobucket, etx. So, will do soon.

Also, just placed my order for a Slikrock Winch Bumper from AJ's Offroad Armor. My rig doesn't currently have a bumper at all, lol, last owner bumped a truck in front of him, luckily no frame damage, and just made it easier to squeeze him like a melon on the price!!! Hope to order my long arm lift within the month of August, along with wheels, and tires.

Thanks again!,
Nick

This is a great site, but because your in NC you may also want to join up at NC4x4, lots of great guys and gals, all generally fairly local. Lots of local events, meets, etc... Not strictly XJ's or Jeeps or anything, but alot of Jeepers on there, Check out ECORS racing aswell.

There is actually a new 4x4 Group being formed, 4x4 Everyone, basically a group with the goal of wheeling, hanging out, meeting new people, mostly not too overbuilt rigs so the trails will generally be stocker accesable, and as you go bigger, the more you'll be able to do. Don't know either guy running the group, but I know one of them is military, cannot remember which branch. Might just be a good start for you.
Welcome Again.
