The rear of the MJ's are spring under so have a heap more arch than a XJ rear. They are longer though but might be able to use all but the main leaf?
 
New Here and I like what this site has to offer.:) I read this entire thread, but I never saw any information on using ranger suspension parts. I was at the pickandpull today and I saw a 87 ranger with a rancho lift kit of Im guessing three inches and wanted to know if it will fit. Thanks
 
I don't want to jack the thread but it seems like good place to ask, does a wj or zj axle fit under an xj without moving the perches? :eyes:

Seriously? The WJ and ZJ are coil spring suspension...the XJ is leaf spring....

Why would you put any axle that came under the WJ or ZJ under an XJ anyways? You're either looking at a D35 (crap) or an aluminum D44 (still crap). You have to cut off the old perches and weld new ones on so might as well go 8.8.

If you are talking front axles a ZJ axle will fit as is. Not sure on the WJ, it is wider than the XJ/ZJ/TJ Dana 30. If you are talking rear than none will work as the ZJ and WJ are rear coil springs.
 
I was asking about both really. Didn't realize the rear axle was coil or that the dana 44 was aluminum.
The front is good though?
I really want to upgreade the brakes but keep the ABS. I have the dana 35, and have been looking at the disc conversion, but it seems to sacrifice the ABS.
 
Don't worry about keeping ABS. Yeah, the rear axles are setup for coil springs. Find you a Chrysler 8.25 out of another Cherokee and put the disc brakes on that. It's very easy to do. Just do some searching around and you'll find write-ups about it.

Thats the problem that my Fiancee' has with my Jeep. She was taught to drive during winter with ABS. I was raised to pump the brakes if you slide.

She loves the fact of the 4WD and that it pulled out her Cocky Brother's F-350 Super Duty at the end of our driveway during our snowfall last year. That's when I wish I had been there to see it or get pics. lol
He now has this idea that he can make it back to this lake I took him too about a 12 miles into the woods. Love seeing a 35,000 dollar rig up against trees lol

No, the problem isn't that she was taught to drive using ABS...the problem is that you're letting her drive your Jeep! Don't design your Jeep around her occasional use of it!!! She needs to adapt to the Jeep, not the other way around.

Is it true that the Grand Cherokee's have dual piston calipers?
 
06-08 dodge ram 2500 and 3500 upper control arms are about 3/4" to 1" longer than stock, and bolt right in with some washers to take up the slight difference in width. Boxed like the wj lca's, they can be spaced to the inside to improve tire clearance. i bought mine for $10 from a kid who put a 4" lift on his dodge, and they work great. hell of a lot cheaper than the aftermarkets, and have nice big rubber bushings to give a nice ride.

06-08 Ram 3/4 -1 Ton control arms -
You used the upper control arms from this these trucks as XJ Lower control arms?
